Behind The Scenes Of Porter Robinson's Short Film: 'Shelter'
Whether you've been obsessively having the track on repeat or you've been blessed enough to witness the boys go back-to-back during their Shelter tour currently taking place, it's safe to say that 'Shelter' has had a massive impact on our lives.
One of Porter's biggest influences in his musical craft and live visuals stems from Japanese anime, so it was no surprise when he released his very own anime-inspired short film that he designed and curated himself. However, Porter couldn't do it all alone- he had the help of one of Japan's leading animation studios A-1 Pictures and Crunchyroll, who helped make this video a reality. And thankfully, we got a little behind the scenes action of what went down and get to firsthand see the creative process behind the making of the video:
“Japanese pop culture and anime have been a huge influence on my music, so getting the chance to make my own anime is very much a dream come true. To actually collaborate on creating anime is just unbelievable,” Porter explains.
This SHELTER video just further illustrates the brilliance and creativity that this man possesses, that has already been obviously exemplified in his music. The video will stimulate your minds and souls, and cover your body in chills as you experience this sadly beautiful and dark yet bittersweet feeling that you can't help but feel.
The story is of a girl named Rin, who lives in and is immersed in a world that is entirely of her own creation. She lives in this beautiful, standstill loneliness- until she realizes that something isn't right...that it is not all that it seems to be. We all love a good cliffhanger, so I'm gonna let you guys find out what happens next and experience the emotion evoking and magical video yourselves. Check it out below:
