Freaky Deaky 2016 Review

| November 05, 2016

Freaky Deaky 2016 was the premier Halloween event for the Midwest. Everyone dressed in their best Halloween attire all three nights. It was a festival that was done on the outskirts of a sports arena outside of Chicago in the parking lot. Under the white tents, there were three stages to see various genres of artists. This was the second year of its new three-day format.

Tradition in the Making

Walking through the festival, it was mostly the same setup as the previous year. The Halloween festival has been working on becoming a staple in the Chicagoland area. React has done well to pick the best headlining DJs for a fest of high caliber.

Tiesto came out blasting his usual round of high energy music for the entire crowd. Along with this big headliner, we had DJ Snake and Disclosure. Their sets charged up the crowd with a whole lot of energy.

Disclosure was a set that really stood out as the brotherly duo hailing from England threw it down with their epic DJ set.

Jauz was another stand out act that had the whole tent flooded with party goers watching him play a host of Halloween-themed songs.

New Acts in the Fold

A great aspect that sets Freaky Deaky apart from other EDM festivals is the wide-range of hip-hop and rap artists. Travis Scott came out and put on a long set for the crowd. Everyone was really excited, and then there was also Schoolboy Q and DJ Khaled.

Having these other kinds of artists that rely on produced electronic beats really brought the diversity of music and ever changing landscape of sound.

It was a great Halloween with many costumes spread throughout the place for a time in Chicago filled with fun and good music.
