EDM Dominates The Billboard Charts And The Olympics

As EDM continues to gain popularity, it continues to conquer different mediums.  This past Week EDM took over the Billboard top 10 music charts.

Having four EDM songs on the Billboard top ten says more about our genre than meets the eye. Those four songs have helped set records for EDM. That is more EDM tracks that made the list in one week than the entire year of 2015. We are officially dominating in every way possible.

With the newest release of DJ Snake album, we can only expect his songs to follow the success and break the top ten by the end of this coming week. Especially the newest single off the album featuring Justin Bieber, "Let Me Love You."

In addition to the billboard charts EDM is slowly making its way towards world domination. In the opening ceremony of the USA Olympic trials for swimming, they played Bassnectar song "Time Stretch." You can imagine his excitement when he realized just how popular his song had become.

Aside from just playing EDM tracks during and before events, on August 21^st  Kygo officially marked himself in the history books. Tropical House DJ Kygo performed the closing ceremony for the 2016 Olympics. The Olympics are obviously a huge worldly event, so to have his music be the closing ceremony is a huge deal and that’s just putting it lightly.

Only twice before have DJ's performed the closing ceremony at the Olympics. Kygo followed in the footsteps of artists like Tiesto who closed out in 2004 and Fatboy Slim who closed out in 2012. As a genre, we’ve made it pretty clear that we aren’t going anywhere. We just keep building ourselves up and growing in ways we could only imagine.
