Alec Monopoly delivered one of Art Basel Miami 2025’s most ambitious creative statements this week, unveiling “Flying to a Happy Place”, a sweeping, multi-site exhibition that reimagined Miami Beach as a world of luxury, escapism, and pop-art expression.

Through life-size jet sculptures and large-scale installations, the global contemporary artist introduced a universe built around movement, fantasy, and reinvention.

The experience opened with a private launch event on Wednesday, December 3rd, inside the Mansory Showroom in the Design District, where guests encountered the exhibition’s centerpiece: a full-scale Gulfstream jet and a fighter jet sculpture transformed through Alec’s signature artistic lens.

Many of the aircraft featured in the installation were originally deployed in World War II before being reconstructed and reshaped, merging historical architecture with modern visual language in a striking juxtaposition of past and present.

Opening night also showcased newly created monumental works, including towering sculptures more than 25 feet wide and 10 feet tall. Alec performed a special DJ set to complement the unveiling, bringing his dual identity as both visual artist and performer into the spotlight.

Culinary partners played a major role in the immersive atmosphere. Raising Cane’s served complimentary chicken tenders and fries from its food truck, while Papi Steak delivered white-glove hospitality with curated dishes and on-site grilling.

The evening’s aviation theme carried through every detail, with staff dressed as flight attendants and champagne flowing throughout the event.

A secondary expansion of “Flying to a Happy Place” opened to the public at Eden Gallery on Lincoln Road, offering visitors another opportunity to explore Alec’s artistic world through a curated selection of works.

Meanwhile, the final public showing of the large-scale jet installations will took place on Saturday, December 6th, back at the Mansory Showroom.

Across both sites, the project blended fine art, design, nightlife, and experiential environments into a cohesive narrative about aspiration and the joy of escape.

It marks another milestone in a landmark year for Alec, whose collaborations in dance music, including “Too Much Swag” with TECH IT DEEP and “Cold Fresh Air” with Solardo, alongside performances in Dubai, Ibiza, Mykonos, and Bali, continue to push his multidisciplinary vision forward.

“Flying to a Happy Place” stands as one of Art Basel Miami 2025’s defining moments, showcasing Alec Monopoly’s ability to transform imagination into an environment you can step inside and experience.
