DJs Express Strong Opinions On The DJ Mag Top 100

| October 23, 2016

It happens every single year and every year we watch the EDM community express their very different opinions. The DJ Mag's Top 100 DJ list has officially dropped and thus has put a ranking system on DJs. But how exactly are they being ranked to begin with?

Dillon Francis did a great job when he, as usual, took to snapchat to show off his opinion. Thus proving that even the people who are on the list don't even entirely understand what the list is ranking.

While doing it in his usuall humorous way, he makes some valid points. Pointing out that DJ Mag not having A-Trak, who is one of the most incredible DJs out there, is absurd. If you're looking for the poster child of what a DJ should be, it's A-Trak. Regardless if you're die hard into EDM or not into it at all, there's no denying his legitimate skills.

Now even if you're not into house or techno, it is only right to give credit where credit is due. To give Carl Cox the 74th spot is almost as ridiculous as the fact that Porter Robinson got the 90th spot.

It's at the point where people are almost wondering what is the point of this list to begin with. The people who are on it don't really seem to care about it or take it seriously, so who exactly is?

Someone pointed out that Avicii had gained the #11 spot, even after calling it quits with the DJ scene. Shouldn't his retirement clear up a free spot for someone else? Apparently not.

3LAU decided to post his opinions on twitter which soon after were retweeted by several DJs over the past 24 hours.

This isn't the first time that DJs have spoken out about their distaste for the list. So it seems that no one actually thinks too highly off this list anymore, and yet every year when it comes out, we all look at it.
