10 Must-See Artists At Spring Awakening 2018
Spring Awakening - the weekend that Chicago’s night owls actually get up, get cute, and put on their favorite rave outfits before high noon.
EDM’s addicts forget all things real life and come together, united, with one mission: catch all the shows, with as little overlap as possible. Oh, and did I mention to look cute (and weird) AF?
Luckily, I’ve done some legwork for you. With much of the line up basically serving as resident Spring Awakening artists, here’s a breakdown of who to focus your love on, and where to get your most dance steps in.
1. Destructo
With a few new drops this year, his “LET’S BE FREIND’S TOUR” and ESPECIALLY because of all the mystery around his AMF event, see Destructo. There’s going to be something fresh happening at his stage, I just feel it. Also, I’m obsessed with his Hip-Hop collabs, so no excuses for not partying up front with DJ Destructo.
2. Virtual Self
Porter Robinson's’ new project and alter ego will take you even further into his emotional genius than before. Pivoting in a different direction and changing sound again is something Porter does best. Serving as a throwback and ode to the 90s and early 2000s trance, etc., there’s definitely something beautifully nostalgic about Virtual Self. Don’t miss it and don’t say I didn’t warn you.
3. Alison Wonderland
Representing as the only female headliner should be reason enough to visit Alison on Friday. Also, with her live singing and playing the cello, it should be pretty cool up close and personal.
4. Deadmau5
With a massive amount of clout behind him, there’s a million reasons to checkout Deadmau5- pure intrigue being number one. I’m most curious to see if Zimmerman will really go all out and do any live orchestral performances he’s been working on “Where’s the Drop?” If he does, I’m going to be there to witness it.
5. Oliver Heldens
When you’re feeling dancy head over to Oliver Heldens, I’m supremely digging his collab remix of "Best Friend" (by one of my favorite bands Sofi Tukker), among other tracks of course.
6. Kaskade
Definitely my number one headliner to see, I’m always down to make some sweet memories with Kaskade. He is an OG in the game and an EDM favorite, year after year.
7. Cosmic Gate
The German duo are doing progressive trance true justice. Selling out arenas on their way to becoming the genre’s most crowned pair, I feel like this show is going to be one for the books.

8. Bro Safari
Gotta have some dubstep and trap to get that Juke in there. Bro Safari is one show that I know I’ll always have fun at and most definitely will not be able to stop dancing.
9. Sasha + John Digweed
Electronic’s super dynamic and innovative duo, this should be a great one to check out. They reunited last year at Resistance Ibiza, and coming off their giant comeback I’m hoping they’re riding on the same high for Spring Awakening 2018.
10. 3LAU
With such a different approach to electronic music, i’d be sure to check out 3LAU. He uses so many instruments and angles when it comes to composition, it’s bound to be an out of body experience. I love that otherworldly feeling of his music, so I’ll be there for sure!

With so many oldies, but goodies, at the fest this year, it was hard to narrow down. Some honorable mentions are Dubfire, Seven Lions, Lee Burridge and Lee Foss.
