FNGRS CRSSD NGHT.MVS in the Park 2022 Review
Partitioning FNGRS CRSSD’s two flagship festivals CRSSD and DAY.MVS XL, NGHT.MVS in the Park is a mini festival held in San Diego in seasonal intervals. The Summer 2022 iteration of the event featured massive headliner Carl Cox, supported by a personally-selected lineup of his fellow techno artists. For this particular festival, Cox endorsed the talented SASHA, Chelina Manuhutu, and Lee K as his support in constructing a memorable night. Petco Park’s adjacent Gallagher Square was booming with classic techno basslines that could be heard throughout the San Diego Gaslamp Quarter. The collaboration between the dance music icon and Southern California powerhouse collective is an impressive feat– both parties delivering the highest standard of event production.
The chosen venue, Gallagher Square, is a recreational park featuring a large, fully-equipped stage perfect for medium-sized events. The grassy property features both flat ground and hills suited for spreading out or dancing while retaining stunning views of the sets, Petco Park, and Downtown. Gallagher Square is lined with enchanting trees that twinkle with lights after sunset, intensifying the dazzling ambiance. Because of the massive stage, glittering trees, and grassy hills, the venue decorates itself perfectly for a dance music event. The layout of NGHT.MVS allowed for an intimate atmosphere while comfortably accommodating a large crowd. Logistically speaking, there were plenty of bathrooms, accessible water, and bars available to mitigate long lines and provide a seamless experience for guests. These details make a significant difference when showcasing the sophistication of any event organizers. CRSSD’s unwillingness to cut corners emphasizes the integrity behind the collective and their consistency in putting the guest experience first.
NGHT.MVS featured a female-dominant support lineup leading up to the 3-hour Carl Cox set. Supporting sets Lee K, Chelina Manuhutu, and SASHA were high-quality, mesmerizing daytime performances that perfectly complemented Cox’s refined style. At nightfall, Carl Cox emerged on stage and delivered the homogenous techno set he has championed for decades. The oscillating basslines radiated throughout the square, electrifying fans from the pit to the surrounding streets. In summary, NGHT.MVS put forth an impeccable venue, lineup, and logistical plan that ensured guest comfort and satisfaction. NGHT.MVS was an EDM event well-done, and a worthy addition to FNGRS CRSSD’s rapidly growing portfolio of successful events.
