iEDM: What is the inspiration and meaning behind “Ravell”?

Ravell: Ravell came from the word reveal. The initial concept was to showcase and reveal who I am as an artist.

iEDM: How would you categorize your specific style or genre of music?

Ravell: My sound is a combination of high energy, bass, and all elements that make you want to get up and dance.

iEDM: Describe your experience of being on tour with Kaskade.

Ravell: Where do I even begin?! Being on tour with Kaskade was and is always inspiring. It’s an experience I’m forever grateful for. I learned so much. He is the true definition of someone who is beyond dedicated and devoted to his craft. Being able to see his work ethic, inevitable talent, and hard work firsthand defined what it takes to become a successful artist.

iEDM: How do your festival performances differ from your club sets?

Ravell: My festival performances are edgier compared to my club sets. My club sets are a bit more intimate so automatically have a groovier vibe!

iEDM: What has been your favorite festival performance to date?

Ravell: I had the pleasure of taking my parents to my set at Crush 2020. They were finally able to see what I did — as opposed to me trying to explain it to them. As I was performing, I had a quick glimpse of my dad behind me just really vibing, like full-blown dancing and enjoying himself. When I played my song "Rockin’," he went so hard that I just had to pull him up on stage. I instantly grabbed the mic and introduced him to the audience. The crowd went crazy! It was such an emotional moment for us, especially for me. The biggest reason why I even wanted to be a DJ was that I grew up going to different gigs with him. I fell in love with it!

iEDM: What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of DJing?

Ravell: I love spending time with my family and working out. One thing I learned over the pandemic is that health is wealth and there’s nothing compared to the importance of family.

iEDM: How did you get involved in doing a brand collaboration with Beverly Hills Society?

Ravell: We met at a show. Beverly Hills Society is a digital talent agency that facilitates brand deals for artists and creators. After working closely with them for some time, the partnership made sense for us to take things to the next level. Elaine Yu, the founder of Beverly Hills Society has joined Team Ravell as my manager. We’ve been putting in work and it’s been great!

iEDM: Describe the meaning behind the name and logo for your new label KAZAA?

Ravell: Kazaa stems from the Spanish word “casa,” which means home. My goal with Kazaa is to provide artists with a safe space to call home, the resources to get creative and an outlet for their music to be heard.

iEDM: What was the inspiration behind launching your own label?

Ravell: The inspiration was to have the option to release my own music but to also give up-and-coming artists a platform and opportunity to be seen and heard.

iEDM: Tell me about the creative process behind your latest single “Siento”. How did you come up with the song's name?

Ravell: "Siento" was inspired by my culture and Latin roots. The word means to feel. We’ve overcome a tough year so I wanted to use fun sounds & elements that personally made me feel good, hoping listeners do too.

iEDM: What does KAZAA have in store for 2022?

Ravell: KAZAA has a ton on the way! You can expect more music, collaborations, merch and some parties incoming.

iEDM: What are your biggest goals as a DJ and a producer this year?

Ravell: More music, of course! I am truly undeserving of all the listeners and fans who have supported me since day one. I know that I owe it to them to keep an updated catalog of songs. You can bet that there will be a healthy amount of releases in the upcoming year. So please, come back! We’re just getting started and my appreciation runs so deep for everyone who has been patiently waiting and future listeners. Thank you!
