Top 5 International Dance Scenes

| August 30, 2016

Dance music is global. Ravers transcend boundaries and borders to show their love to various artists around the globe. It doesn't matter where you're from, there's likely a known from your place of residence.

Here we take a look at some of the top international dance scenes around the world. This was difficult to pinpoint, because each area of the world offers differing experiences that add to their uniqueness.

5. India

India is somewhere you wouldn't necessarily expect, but has a thriving dance scene. If you've ever heard of Goa Trance, then you know that originates from India.

As house music and techno were getting their start in urban-American environments, psychedelic trance was taking root in Goa, India. The beautiful vast clear beaches are a great destination. Goa is just one of many Indian cities that offer stellar dance music. Sunburn Music Festival is a premier festival that is a spectacle in its own right.

4. United Kingdom

Before the United States knew the beauty of outdoor raves and festivals, the UK was partying in crammed clubs and fields under the night sky. The United Kingdom offers unparalleled views of the country not seen anywhere else.

The festivals are ever ranging around the entirety of the countryside. There's a rich history of artists hailing from Britain. Calvin Harris is just one of the many names, alongside Nero, and legends like The Chemical Brothers, Pete Tong, and Paul Oakenfold. It's a constant stream of great artists.

3. Belgium

Belgium makes a great EDM destination, mostly because of Tomorrowland. This magical festival has been going on over a decade. It is one of the leaders for the amazing festival culture that has taken hold.

The first festival took place in 2005 and hosted performers like Armin Van Buuren and other trance acts. Tommorowland is the Disney-esque fantasy brought to Belgium. For such a small country, it has a rich dance culture history dating back to the late 80s.

2. Spain

If the mainland of Spain wasn't enough to keep you partying for nights on the streets of Barcelona, Ibiza will do the trick. Touted as one of the party capitals of the world, Ibiza offers striking views of the Mediterranean Sea.

Beach parties galore and with a nonstop party atmosphere makes it one of the best locations to party. The Ibiza party season begins in June and doesn't end until the first weekend of October.

1. United States

America has ebbed in and out of dance music being underground to mainstream. The past five to ten years, it has hit full stride. There isn't a major city in the country you can't find an amazing festival. Downtown clubs will play the best and hottest music invading the airwaves.

There's plenty of places playing underground artists as well. Las Vegas has taken the throne of party capital of the world. Major cities like New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles are equally as compelling.

There's no getting past the fact that the USA is leading the way. We have many known festivals world-wide like Ultra, Electric Daisy Carnival, Burning Man, and Electric Zoo.
