Unlimited Aspect Talks Mile High Sound Movement and Suwannee Hulaween in iEDM Exclusive Interview

| October 26, 2016

I recently got the opportunity to interview Jay from Unlimited Aspect. Unlimited Aspect is a collaboration project between Project Aspect, Unlimited Gravity, and Steven Kuzma.

This weekend they will be taking their tour to Suwannee Hulawee, so make sure you check them out!

iEDM: What can you tell me about the upcoming tour?

Jay: Well it’s going to be our second time touring the Southeast together, particularly Florida. It’s our second time playing Suwannee. Last year we got to perform at the silent disco and this year we get to play on a sound system.

iEDM: Do you know what time you guys are going to be playing yet?

Jay: Yeah, we play at 3pm on Thursday.

iEDM: Is Hulaween the biggest festival you guys have played?

Jay: It’s close. We did Electric Forest last year unofficially. We played at the Grassroots Dome. It was cool we had a really cool crowd. We all did Counterpoint last year.

iEDM: How does it work to do an unofficial set like that?

Jay: Grassroots California invited us to play at their dome in the campsite. They gave us free GA passes to go to the festival and come to play there.

iEDM: You guys are touring mostly in the Southeast now, are you guys ever going to come more north? Maybe hit New York?

Jay: We did a whole East Coast run last year. I personally haven't played in New York yet though.

iEDM: Do you guys do a lot of stuff in Colorado since that’s where you’re from or do you spend most of your time traveling?

Jay: We definitely do a lot of Colorado shows. Nowadays we try to spread out our plays in Colorado to more special shows. There was a long time where we over saturated ourselves in our home town and I feel like, personally, that people kind of grow familiar to it. They kind of know that they can come see us the next time. We also don’t want to be known as local DJs because that’s not what we are.

iEDM: Have you guys ever played at Red Rocks?

Jay: We’ve played at the third stage. We haven’t yet played at the main stage but that’s definitely our life goal.

iEDM: Who’s been your favorite DJ to work with so far?

Jay: Everyone on the Mile High Sound Movement is our favorite people to work with. Our roster is just filled with homies and friends who are driven and we inspire each other. I also got to collaborate with Vibe Squad

iEDM: The Mile High Sound Movement is your label, what can you tell me about it?

Jay: So me and Zach aka Kruza Kid, we founded the Mile High Sound Movement back in high school. Recently we took on a friend Chris Bachmann so he’s helping us  stay organized. It’s basically Zach, Ronnie, Chris, and myself who run it.

iEDM: So you guys founded it when you were in high school. Was that hard? Were people kind of just like “oh it’s a bunch of kids goofing off.”

Jay: So me and Zach went to Jefferson County School in Lakewood, Colorado. It basically shaped you to build your own curriculum. So you have these six goals you have to do and they're all different aspects of life. One i iss adventure, one is creativity, one is global awareness; and they're all just projects you have to do that prepare yourself for life and a career. So this school was meant to prepare you for life as opposed to prepare you for college. That curriculum really helped us realize what we wanted to do early.

We were playing music in high school and weren’t really getting all the gigs and opportunities we wanted. So we initially started the Mile High Sound to give ourselves and others who were driven a chance to perform in front of people. It just turned into this collective of artists and we just started throwing shows and concerts here in Denver.

iEDM: What do you guys have planned for next year?

Jay: We haven’t really started talking about anything as far as touring. But we are in the works of our next album as Unlimited Aspect.  We put out our first album BASSASS! about four years ago. Back then it was just Ronnie and I, before we had a drummer. This time around is going to have drums recorded and more instruments recorded, so it’ll be more of a broad instrumental album. We’ve been working really hard on that. We’re hoping that the album will be available at the beginning of the year.

iEDM: Do you have a title for it yet?

Jay: It’s going to be called Bass Ass Volume 2, Pinkys Up! We’re all about the pinky's up vibe. Massive swag.

iEDM: Do you know what you plan on being for Halloween yet?

Jay: I don’t. I have not even had a chance to think about it.

iEDM: Will you dress in costume for Hulaween?

Jay: Yeah we probably will. Probably not for our set because it’ll be 3pm in Florida and it’ll be hot, but definitely for the weekend. Last year I was this sparrow wizard guy.

iEDM: Is that from anything or did you just make it up?

Jay: I just made it up. Ronnie was a pirate and Kuzma was a taco.

iEDM: How does one be a taco?

Jay: There’s literally a taco costume you can buy. It’s a pullover taco and he wore a little sombrero.

With a new album on the way, running Mile High Sound Movement, and playing a major festival like Hulaween, these guys are showing that they can literally do it all.  If you are in the Southeast area make sure you check them at on one of their stops on the tour!
