10 Highlights Of ATL's Shaky Beats Festival 2018
As I reminisce this past weekend, I'm reminded of all of the experiences that were one of a kind, which Shaky Beats brings us every time. This young festival has been perfected in just 3 short years, with an impressive debut from the start.
Talent from around the globe was in attendance, and the crowd's excitement was incredible. A lot of hometown performances from some of Atlanta's biggest names in music have become the norm for Shaky, making it a must-attend event.
This year brought a few changes with it that helped to improve from the already spectacular festival it's been in the previous years. We were fortunate enough to attend and experience the magic every year. Here are 10 Highlights Of Shaky beats 2018.
The good vibes were abundant.
No matter where you looked into the crowd, wide smiles are what you saw. Everyone showed their festival enthusiasm by dressing in their cutest rave outfits, many from iEDM.com. They took advantage of expressing their creative sides with rave accessories and all of the essentials.
This year's lineup was dope.
It's one big list of acts that EDM lovers have been dying to see. Every night was closed out with a stunning production and performances curated perfectly by Marshmello, Zedd, and Kygo.
Every year Shaky Beats has shown us how unique and talented Atlanta is, with many performances by extraordinary talents who call it home. Artists from all over the world came to play for the for the Shaky crowd.
A new venue gave us more to explore.
In previous years, Shaky Beats took place in Centennial Olympic Park downtown Atlanta. This year it was moved right down the road to Central Park in Midtown. The new venue gives it room to grow and makes a great host for a city festival.
There was no sound bleeding between stages.
At the new venue, enough space was provided between stages so there wasn't sound bleed, which was hard to prevent within Centennial Park's small perimeter. When walking between stages, you are just taking a stroll through the city, giving it a unique feel.
There were trees which gave the festival a different vibe.
The trees gave it more of an outdoor vibe and less corporate one. Running around in the woods while on your festival adventures make it a bit more magical. It's nature's way of providing shade, beauty, and better air. Everything is better with plants. (Maybe next year they will let us bring hammocks!)
Performances were above and beyond.
Not only did some of Atlanta's OG's come through, but there were also mind-blowing performances from artists around the world.
Some of my favorite moments were when Marshmello gave chills with the throwbacks. Herobust threw it down for his hometown. San Holo spread his light, and my favorite of them all when Bonnie X Clyde gave roses and water bottles to their fans during an impressive show.
The VIP at mainstage was even bigger and better.
Every year, the VIP area at main stage has been up to par. However, this year the massive two-story structure looked like something you only see in movies. The top story gave views that no other in Atlanta does. VIP was definitely worth it.
If you had the munchies, there was plenty to choose from.
The noodle vendor smelled so good that it was impossible to pass, even if you weren't hungry. The loaded nachos were bomb. The only hard part was actually choosing what to go with. There were bars convenient across the venue.
Festy goers dressed to impress.
It's always nice to be around people who are excited to be there and put forth the effort to make it an exceptional experience for themselves and others. The people who go all out with their rave outfits bring a uniqueness to everyone's experience around them.
Shout out to all of the rave babes that looked incredible and everyone I saw wearing iEDM's ravewear.
After parties kept the party going.
Atlanta knows how to afterparty! Friday, Minnesota and Thriftworks lit up the Masquerade; Herobust brought the 808s to Terminal West, and Believe Music Hall melted everyone with lasers during performances from Leah Culver, Kill Paris, and Atlanta's best locals.
Saturday Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell were all taken over at the Masquerade by Borgore, San Holo, and Shiba San. Believe Music Hall kept it shakin' with Dodge & Fuski and Wax Motif. The party didn't stop all weekend long.
