5 Things We're Thankful For In EDM
Thanksgiving is about more than eating too much food and Black Friday deals. The November holiday reminds us all to pause for a minute and reflect on the things we're thankful for, especially in a post-pandemic climate. With that in mind, we've compiled a list of our five favorite things EDM has blessed us with. Check out our list below.
Live Stream Concerts & Festivals
Live stream sets were our saving grace during the pandemic. With concerts and festivals temporarily on hold, live streams were the one way fans could still experience some semblance of live music. Between Diplo's weekly broadcasts, Brownies & Lemonade's Digital Mirage festival, and Twitch's growing number of DJ affiliates, fans were swimming in content while in lockdown. Thankfully, this trend has continued post-pandemic, with artists like Illenium live streaming his recent Trilogy show in Las Vegas.
Face Masks
Before they were a mandatory part of day-to-day life due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, face masks were an early trend in the EDM scene. From artist's merch to our very own iEDM collection, face masks are an essential part of ravewear. Not only do they protect your family, friends, and fellow ravers, they are also as a stylish accessory that completes any look.
Virtual Reality Concerts
Virtual Reality (VR) concerts are truly the future of live music. Like live streams, they allow fans from across the globe to partake in an intimate concert experience without leaving their homes. Dillon Francis, Alison Wonderland, REZZ, and Jauz have all created inviting fantasy worlds in collaboration with Wave, a company determined to create interactive and immersive concert experiences through VR technology. Similarly, Marshmello, Diplo, deadmau5, and Steve Aoki have taken part in Fornite's in-game concert series.
Rave Accessories
Unlike any other genre, EDM has gifted fans with incredible rave accessories that heighten the live show experience. From face masks and light up goggles to space sabers and whips, rave accessories act as a form of expression in the EDM community. PLUR
Above all, EDM has inspired a loving, optimistic community like no other under the concept of PLUR. Shorthand for "Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect," the mantra has been embraced to the fullest extent by EDM fans. The inclusive community welcomes all forms of expression without judgment and has provided a safe space for ravers to be their unique and unfiltered selves.
