Alan Walker Talks About "Faded" As EDC Anthem Two Years In A Row In iEDM Exclusive Interview

| July 11, 2017

EDC is a time where producers drop tons of new music for the hundreds of thousands of fans that gather at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway every year. Many tracks become staples of the weekend, and one of the most popular tracks at EDC 2016 (and even this year) was Alan Walker's "Faded."

iEDM had a chance to sit down with Alan Walker himself and talk to him about the success of "Faded" and what he'll be working on next.

iEDM: "Faded" was the anthem of EDC last year. How did it feel to have one of your tracks become one of the most-played songs at EDC?

Alan: It's quite incredible, actually. I definitely didn't expect all of the love for "Faded" when I produced it back home in Norway, and it's still an amazing feeling when DJs include it in their sets at EDC and other places.

iEDM: Do you have any new projects or EPs that you're working on right now?

Alan: I'm going to keep releasing singles in the near future, as well as remixes and collaborations with other artists. My recent single "Tired" is, in fact, the prequel to a trilogy of singles to come. I've also considered releasing an EP or some sort of project, but nothing is set in stone yet.

iEDM: You're one of the younger producers on the scene, has that been difficult for you?

Alan: Actually, I've experienced nothing but love and support from the DJ community. It's great to see the unity that exists among artists, DJs, and producers in the scene. Everyone has been really great.

iEDM: Your music is incredibly transcendent and emotive, what inspires you while you're producing your tracks?

Alan: Thank you! My inspiration for producing tracks comes from many places. New experiences on the road, my amazing fans, and the people around me all contribute to my music in some way. As far as music goes, I'm very inspired by film scores, actually. "Time" by Hans Zimmer is one of my favorite tracks.

iEDM: Lastly, any final words for your fans?

Alan: I really can't thank my fans enough, because none of this would have been possible without them. The support that they show me online and at my shows is absolutely amazing.

Thank you so much, Alan, for taking the time out of your schedule for a quick chat! Your set was amazing (and if you didn't catch it, you can listen to it HERE).

Make sure you check out Alan's new single "Tired." You can listen to it on Spotify or watch the video. We look forward to chatting with you again Alan!
