Something Wicked 2016 Review

| November 01, 2016

“Something dark, something dead, something wicked come again.”

Something Wicked held its fifth annual two-day festival in the grounds of Sam Houston Race Park to celebrate Halloween weekend October 29-30th, 2016. It's a festival put on by Disco Donnie known for its delightful yet frightful stage production and a creativity of ghastly characters that bring everyone’s inner monsters out for the weekend. You feel like you are stuck on a horror movie that you never want to end.

Excision had everyone throwing their hands up throwing their “X” while head banging to every single beat. Seven Lions dropped “Lucy” which was a perfect song to go wild during this Hollow’s Eve. Diplo had everyone expressing themselves with his twerk-inducing music and energy he brings to every one of his sets.

To the darker beats of “Drezo” (a DJ you must see if you have the opportunity) that made you feel perplex. Although, the place to be on the second day was at Andrew Bayer and Ilan Bluestone’s set who both brought every trance head's favorite songs and the incredible appearance of Jeff, “Seven Lions” during their set. Making everyone go nuts, I can say they were nothing but great.

This Halloween-themed festival creates thrill and adventure to everyone who approaches. Coming out to enjoy some of the best beats from a favorite DJ was the place to be during Halloween weekend. Amazing music with a great crowd along with a variety of alcoholic drinks and bomb pizza and tacos.

You could look around and 99.9% of the people were walking around as their favorite hero, horror character or just as an eye grabbing cute raver along all the Something Wicked’s walking grounds makes sure you had that spooky view of the festival.

Without question, I was glad I skipped the traditional haunted house this year to make an appearance at Something Wicked. It didn’t just deliver and outstanding lineup, but also gave me a ghostly Hallow's Eve experience with spooky vibes and stages that conveyed killer sound and lasers that catch your attention a mile away. This is a festival to keep an eye on next Halloween.
