1. Shambhala

Shambhala is the pinnacle of everything festival culture represents. Nestled deep in the picturesque mountains of British Columbia, it is a dreamlike musical sanctuary that has become a mecca for festival veterans. The 15,000-person capacity preserves its quality and gives it a level of intimacy that is rare for such a coveted event. Shambhala has also gone above and beyond to make itself an educational and grounding experience. Whether its activities like attendee curated workshops or yoga, there are so many ways to engage your mind and leave with newfound passions.

Safety and comfort are huge priorities for organizers which can be seen in various harm reduction initiatives dedicated to overall well-being. Along with that, attendees are encouraged to stay an extra day after the festival ends to ensure they are well rested, making this the most traveler friendly event on our list. If you still have any doubts as to whether Shambhala is worth it, know that practically anyone who has made the journey raves about how no other festival remotely compares to it.

2. Envision

3. Deja Voom

2019 is a year that will go down in history for bassheads with Bassnectar’s first ever destination event. Deja Voom is a tropical ‘basscation’ that will be taking place at the lavish Riviera Maya Resort in Mexico from February 28 – March 3. This event was thoughtfully curated by the Bassnectar team after surveying fans on exactly what they would like to see in a destination style event and they didn’t miss a beat. It is all-inclusive from the moment you arrive including unlimited food and drinks! There are multiple resort packages and locations you can choose from and each one is breathtaking in its own way. You can also purchase adventure packages where you can explore some of Mexico’s most surreal attractions such as Chichen Itza and Rio Secreto.

The whole concept of the event is drool worthy but the lineup is simply obscene. Bassnectar will be playing 3 sets on the beach along with a Lo Fi set where he will dive into his old-school roots. There will also be a Slug Wife and Dirty Bird Players takeover, along with a Beats Antique DJ set, Conrank, Rezz, and Shlump to name a few. The daytime sets will take place at the beach or at the pool party stages and late night sets will be in intimate room settings. There will also be plenty of ways to give back during your time there as Bass Network is organizing a series of initiatives such as charity events and beach cleanups to benefit the local community. Every aspect of Deja Voom is heartfelt and magical so if you are looking for an event that delivers in every way then this is the one for you!

Tomorrowland is the holy grail when it comes to international festivals. There will be two installments for Belgium in 2019, one going on from July 19-21 and the second one following on July 26 – 28. Attendees reside at Dreamville which is the popup city that surrounds the event where they engage with all the dazzling sights and sounds around them. This is by far the most expansive event on our list, with a whopping 400,000 attendees this year. The scale of the event production makes this event a rarity worth attending at least once.
