Top 10 Totems Of Electric Forest 2018

| July 05, 2018

Totems represent your festival squad and are a way to find each other throughout the large crowds of thousands of people.

Before the festival, hard work and creativity go into making these friend finders, and iEDM likes to recognize our favorite ones. They usually have a story, some even have websites and business cards.

Electric Forest is a large camping festival that can be easy to get lost in the crowd. With a totem, you and your festy crew can find one another all weekend long.

From light up totems, to ones that have your favorite cartoon characters, there was a wide variety and no two totems were the same.

Here are our top 10 totems from Electric Forest 2018:

1. Carl The DeepLight

Neil Merchant decided to light the way for his friends with a new totem called DeepLight. This Infinity Dodecahedron shines bright and can be seen easily from anywhere in the forest. This trippy, mesmerizing totem was created by Neil Merchant, based out of Denver.

2. Plasma Sphere²

This totem screams diversity, including themes from Bitcoin, Bi Pride, and even Sketchy Etch. Our Favorite is the My Raver Totoro and his beautiful Pixel Pro LED Glasses.

3. All Might

Some friends didn't have to worry about getting lost on a dark path, I AM HERE was read loud an clear from these Forest Hero's Anime Character totem. This totem was created by the mastermind Tiger Lily based out of Michigan.

4. This is A Good Sign

This is a good sign brand is a marketing movement to spread happiness. This totem is a good sign created by This is a Good Sign Movement. They can be seen at many festivals across the country spreading their good vibes and love.

5. Explore The Unknown

We love this totem because it represents the recent loss of Anthony Bourdain. He was a great journalist, storyteller and chef. His TV show, Parts Unknown, is a great show that explores different cultures, food and people from across the globe. Explore the unknown is a great slogan for a festival, and Anthony Bourdain deserves to remembered and recognized.

6. All You Care About...

"All you care about is f****** House Music!" This totem is hilarious and was made to represent their friend who always gives their crew a hard time for wanting to catch every house set. House music is back as one of the hottest genres in dance music and we think this totem is hilarious!

7. Heady Thready

This laser reactive bear is made by Heady Thready and can be written on with laser light to say anything custom you can dream of. The other side glows with EL Wire, but our favorite is the customization of the laser painted side. We had her write iEDM and it looks great and glowed for about 5 minuted before fading back to normal.

8. Wubbalubbadubdub

This Rick and Morty cartoon character and Bassnectar-inspired totem guided this crew through the forest day and night. Rick's bass face is the perfect representation of how Bassnectar makes us feel too.

 9. Dirtybird Egg

This totem could be seen at Claude Von Stroke sets and all the other Dirtybird players sets. Even though there wasn't a Dirtybird takeover this year in the forest, we love that the fans made it out to represent our favorite label.

10. Slappy Cloud

The back of this totem read "Slappy slappy makes daddy happy" giving everyone in the forest a good laugh. The fluffy cloud side could be seen across any crowd. Look at that face! We want to be high in the clouds with slappy.

Honorable Mentions

Shout out to all the totems that didn't make it into the festival. Don't let your totem end up in the totem graveyard! Always check the festival's website for totem rules and regulations. We asked security why these totems didn't make it in and they said because they were too tall. Maybe next year!

Thank you to everyone who participated in creating a totem. Your creation adds to the immersive experience of the festival!
