If you regularly talk to rock folks, you may have noticed that they sometimes don’t understand how much impact rock culture has had on EDM, unless they’ve seen both sides. Having roots in rock, influenced by acts such as Def Leppard or Mötley Crüe, a guitar playing metalhead from Marseille in Southern France had set off to write and record some stunning chiptune pieces in 2013. One of the earlier artists to be published by label “NCS|NoCopyrightSound”, Desmeon (based in Paris at the time) had reached first respectable successes with songs on their channel, hitting the obligatory two digit million in streams.
Further up the ladder of entrepreneurial ventures, Desmeon teamed up with fellow Parisian Paul Flint to become an electronic music duo. He hit the release button earlier this year with a river of new singles, all coming together in his 12 piece LP “Nonstop to Nowhere”. With clearly improved skills in writing and composing, his newer releases have have a mature sound with a rare insight into a twisted artistic mind, stuck in between Eastern and Western culture. Desmeon is an artist of two worlds, currently living in Tokyo and definitely one to watch for.
