5 Festivals You Should Travel To The Windy City Chicago For
If Chicago does one thing right, it’s SUMMER! Part of the glory that makes Chicago’s summer so celebratory and fun are attending all the music festivals and sporting rave outfits to them. From free festivals, to musicians you’d be willing to shell out your life savings for, there are a ton of options - and chances are you can catch more than one event per visit. Here is a list of the festivals we think Chicago is worth traveling for.
Book your tickets, pack your bags, and find a couch or AirBnB to crash on, Chicago's summer 2018 festival season is here!
1. Spring Awakening Music Festival
This EDM festival kicks off the fun for the summer. Some acts we’re looking forward to catching (and you should too) are: Virtual Self, Alison Wonderland, Bro Safari, Deadmau5 and Kaskade of course. Check out our full breakdown of 10 anticipated sets at Spring Awakening 2018 HERE. SAMF is held at Addams/Medill Park near the Pilsen neighborhood on June 8-10.
2. Mamby on the Beach
This festival is on the beach! That in itself should be enough reason to go. Mamby is always a great time, because who isn’t happy on the beach, super looking forward to Duke Dumont, Jai Wolf, Russ, Common, St. Lucia, AJR, Towkio and DJ Tennis this June 23-24.
3. Pitchfork Music Festival
Held at Chicago’s Union Park on July 20-22, this festival is known for giving the stage to the best up and coming artists around. Headliners this year are Tame Impala, Fleet Foxes and Lauren Hill herself. Some others to catch: Blood Orange, Saba, and The War on Drugs.
4. Lollapalooza
This one is a personal favorite of mine, the energy is always so high from the moment you walk in. With Perry’s to your right and Pepsi to your left, the incredible Chicago cityscape behind you and Lake Michigan ahead, you can only have a good time. Who to see? Lolla always features top acts like The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, Logic, CHVRCHES, ZEDD and about 100 more acts. This year takes place August 2-5 at Grant Park.
5. North Coast Music Festival
The line up is lit this year guys: Axell Ingrosso, DJ Snake, Jamiroquai, Yellow Claw, Rapsody, Cashmere Cat - just to name a few. This one is also at Union Park, and not to be missed, especially this year. August 31- September 2, 2018.
