Arise Festival 2017 Recap: Bass Wobbles And Yoga

It was a rainy weekend for Arise Festival in Loveland, Colorado but that didn’t stop those attending from having an unforgettable weekend filled with a wide variety of uplifting music

Arise promotes activism and growth for the Colorado community. It was hands down the cleanest festival I have been to because everyone was conscious, picked up their trash, and even took the extra effort to compost and recycle.

Overall, I recommend this festival to anyone in the Colorado area looking to expand their consciousness and knowledge, and to enjoy a weekend of genuine connections and great music.

This year’s event featured a Saturday night Tipper set with visuals by Android Jones. Many people came out just for Saturday to get their tip-hop fix.

Arise sold out this year and announced two headliners for next year: Slightly Stoopid and Thievery Corporation

Friday Featured An Evening Of Conscious Hip-Hop

 An afternoon storm rolled in Friday while many festival-goers were setting up their camps. Strong winds put tents to their test because even those who were prepared were holding down their camps. Once the storm passed, the sun dried up the puddles and everyone geared up for music. 

Friday night music featured a harmonious performance from Rising Appalachia bringing everyone out of their dry shelters. The sun set behind the mountains and graced us with a gorgeous sunset.

The main stage then switched to an evening of hip-hop, but unlike your average rap performance, these were positive and enlightening messages. Brother Ali’s lyrics had purpose and intention. The crowd chanted lyrics to Atmosphere who were the headlining act of the night.

The second biggest stage was called the Green Tea Stage, and it had an intimate vibe with heavy bass. Desert Dwellers took the crowd on an electronic adventure of house beats fused with psytrance then into downtempo dub. Desert Dwellers performance was a bassy delight that stood out as one of the best shows of the weekend.

Saturday Night The Crowd Wobbled To Tip-Hop

Saturday offered a full day of workshops, yoga, and activities for the whole family. There was a yoga sanctuary filled with a full day of workshop options. There were speakshops on topics from permaculture to self-love.

Unlike your average festival, Arise offered a VIP option that actually had great perks. The VIP received fantastic catering with delicious vegan food and a happy hour every evening featuring unique mixed drinks.

Two stand out performances Saturday were both at the Green Tea Stage and were both female producers. Miss Jaedha got everyone dancing and set the mood with her adorable cat ear headphones and wobbly deep basslines. Then LA producer HÄANA blew away the crowd with an eclectic set featuring violin with electronic production.

Saturday night was what most of us were waiting for, including myself. As a bass lover, I was ready to get weird with my friends at Tipper. Playing a lot from his tip-hop mix, the crowd wobbled heavily. The bass dripped and dropped and made us go 'what is that sound?' Tipper scratched and mixed, all while Android Jones tripped us out with his VR visual technology.

When it ended, the crowd of course wanted more, but Dave Tipper threw up the peace sign and walked off stage ending an unforgettable Saturday night for Arise.

Arise Will Be Back For 2018 

The vibes of this festival are what more festivals should aim for. Arise was family friendly, empowering, and enlightening.

There was lots of art installations that had traveled cross country to be here, and were on their way to Burning Man.
