Dejavoom Festival Was The Basshead Paradise We All Dreamed For

| March 08, 2019

The internet made jokes predicting Fyre Festival 2.0, but Bassnectar made history with his first destination festival hosted in the beautiful Playa Riveria, Mexico. There's no denying that Bassnectar and CID Presents are powerhouse teams at curating the best music events in the game, and matched with the Barcelo's excellent customer service, this was the ultimate bass head paradise.

The moment we walked in, we were greeted to with tropical cocktails and gifts including a Dejavoom towel so that were were ready to hop in the epic pool parties right away.

Everyone was VIP with drinks served to us at any location, anytime. Walking into the venue, there were staff greeting us with trays of pina coladas, strawberry daiquiris, and our personal favorite: the Miami Vice.

As expected, production was supreme with picturesque palm trees decorated with glowing lights, art installations and the background of the aqua gulf waves. The sound echoed over the ocean making any location perfect for viewing and hearing the exceptional VJing and mind blowing visuals.

We woke up with the ocean breeze through our rooms and delicious huevos rancheros and mimosas with friends from across the country. Our squad personally spent the first morning snorkeling local reefs and swimming with sea turtles, starfish and sting rays.

Besides three nights of the the best Bassnectar sets to go down in bass lover history, our favorite part of the weekend was the Dirtybird pool party on Saturday afternoon featuring Claude Vonstroke and friends.

Everyone had the floaties out, wearing their cutest swimwear, while enjoying multiple swim up bars, amazing flow artists and performers around the stage, and the best pool party vibes we've ever experienced.

With a few hours to relax on the beach and enjoy a taco bar, we danced into the perfect sunsets of Claude Vonstroke and Rezz.

Late night there were so many options. We chilled out with Telefon Tel Aviv in the Oasis and raged in the Voom Room for wild Jantsen set. Returning to our rooms every night, we had a fully loaded mini fridge stocked daily with beer and soda.

We also got to enjoy the beautiful stars from our own private jacuzzi giving ourselves nightly foot-baths soothing our sore feet.

As long as you weren't one of the unfortunate ones who got the travel bug, this was undeniably one of the best festival experiences we could have ever wished for.

No matter what excursions you chose or sets you made it to, this was a bass head paradise and we hope that we are lucky enough to enjoy splashing in the ocean while listening to Bassnectar once again.

Thank you Bassnectar for sharing this paradise with us.

Pro tips for next year:

-Make dinner reservations because the buffet gets old fast

-The festival is short so plan your excursions accordingly

-Sun screen often & buy reef safe for those underwater days

-Wear comfortable festival shoes because the resort is huge

-Book the Barcelo Maya Resort because it is the closest to the venue

-If your lucky you’ll be able to rage the daily pool party from your hot tub on your private balcony

-Bring your own hydro flask / thermal cup because they will refill them for you & your drinks will stay cold longer

-Ask for an extra shot in your drinks they aren’t super strong as is

-Bring one dollar bills to tip
