[LISTEN] Ghastly Bridges Bass House and Rap on 'Flip Dat'
Ghastly kicked off a milestone weekend for his revived project with “Flip Dat,” a new single that strips bass house down to its most functional elements while introducing a rap-driven vocal edge.
Just days after the track’s release, Ghastly stepped onto the Bass Canyon stage for his first festival performance in five years and his first since officially bringing the project back in 2026.
This sequence placed “Flip Dat” directly alongside one of the most significant moments of his comeback so far, pairing fresh music with the long-awaited return of Ghastly to a major festival environment.
The track opens immediately with catchy rap vocals over a driving bass house instrumental. A commanding low-end groove, tightly programmed drums, fiery vocal accents, and polished sound design keep the arrangement focused without overcrowding it.
Ghastly’s decision to prioritize rhythm and repetition gives “Flip Dat” a directness designed for both club and festival settings.
This single also adds another layer to the range emerging from Ghastly’s current era. Dopamine Machine Vol. 1 served as the project’s initial reintroduction, packing unreleased music and edits into a 30-minute audiovisual mix.
“Night Raid” followed as the first official standalone single of the comeback, while Ghastly’s remix of TYNAN’s “On The Beat” explored a modern bass house direction informed by the project’s earlier influences.
Bass Canyon also provided an unusual showcase of David Crow’s two distinct musical identities. In addition to making his first Ghastly festival appearance in five years, Crow performed a separate mainstage set as GHENGAR, bringing both projects to the festival on the same day.
The performances occupied distinctly different sonic territory. GHENGAR represented Crow’s heavier side, while Ghastly brought his revitalized bass house sound back to the festival circuit.
Performing two sets under separate aliases and across two genres gave fans a rare opportunity to experience the breadth of his current creative output within a matter of hours.
That context makes “Flip Dat” particularly fitting for the weekend. Rather than leaning entirely on Ghastly’s history, the single establishes a club-first direction that feels distinctly separate from GHENGAR while giving Crow another lane to continue developing in parallel.
