Jack U 'Where Are U Now ft. Justin Bieber' Wins Collab of The Year

| November 18, 2015

Jack U’s (Skrillex & Diplo) latest track ‘Where Are U Now’ has become one of the most talked about tracks of the year. Not only has it generated buzz within the electronic music world but has also generated a lot of talk in the mainstream pop scene. During Jack U's set at Ultra Music Festival in Miami this summer, Justin Bieber took to the stage to close out Ultra Miami singing the chart topping hit 'Where Are U Now' to thousands of fans raving and singing along. This year has seen a ton of eclectic talent mixing into the EDM scene from Martin Garrix's 'Don't Look Down' featuring hip hop star Usher, Zedd's 'I Want You To Know' featuring pop superstar Selena Gomez to Disclosure's 'Magnets featuring New Zealand singer and songwriter Lorde.

'Where Are U Now' has aided in merging the two genres even closer together with a sick combination of Diplo and Skrillex's hard hitting electro beats and the soothing pop vocals of Justin Bieber. Reaching a wider fan base, 'Where Are U Now’ currently has over 280M views on Youtube and has reached up to the number eight spot on Billboard's Hot 100. The song has also become certified platinum in the United States and has just won Collaboration of the Year by the American Music Awards! P. Diddy presented the award for Collab of the Year where, Jack U and Justin Bieber knocked out these top contenders:

  • Wiz Khalifa Featuring Charlie Puth “See You Again”

  • Rihanna & Kanye West Featuring Paul McCartney “FourFiveSeconds”

  • Mark Ronson Featuring Bruno Mars “Uptown Funk!”

  • Taylor Swift Featuring Kendrick Lamar “Bad Blood”

This win is further evidence on the rise and popularity of EDM in the mainstream American music culture. Upon accepting the award, Diplo labeled his collab with Justin Bieber as "one of the strangest collabs of all time" and Sonny Moore (Skrillex) said with his collab, they are "continuing to break stereotypes and boundaries." With the rise in popularity in EDM within the last few years, we're positive electronic dance music will continue to prevail, break boundaries and dominate the charts!
