Jolene Sound Room Brooklyn Reimagines The Dance Music Experience

Audiophiles rejoice: Bar Lab Hospitality has teamed up with Space Invaders – owners of Miami's acclaimed Club Space – to bring a new high-energy, 150-person sound room to Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood.

Jolene Sound Room Brooklyn, which was "inspired by Dolly Parton's fierceness and femininity," brings a retro vibe to a modern space that includes state-of-the-art audio and lighting systems.

Intended to showcase New York City's best disco, house, and techno DJs, the venue opened its doors to the public on the weekend of March 16th. It sold out shows all weekend long, with performances from legendary New York City DJs Analog Soul and Seven Davis Jr. Since then, the sound room has hosted events with Eli Escobar, DJ Spinna, and Merlin Bobb, among others.

Located on the ground floor of the Moxy Williamsburg hotel, the sound room features cushy, lounge-style seating around the perimeter of the dance floor. Overhead lighting is provided courtesy of hundreds of marquee-style lights, which flicker on and off while changing colors with the music. If you need to loosen up a bit before hitting the dance floor, the sound room's bar offers specialty cocktails that only add to the venue's charming sophistication.

The highly-touted sound system was developed by the award-winning team at Phonic Technologies. That team, which also designed the sound systems at NYC clubs Output and Cielo, takes time to study a venue's acoustics to optimize their sound design. The end product is a must-hear; the speaker system provides depth and clarity of sound that are nearly impossible to replicate.

Jolene Sound Room Brooklyn generally holds events every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. Will Buck, a Brooklyn-based DJ and producer, is spearheading the venue's programming efforts. Upcoming events include appearances from DJs like Shigeto, Black Loops, and LADYMONIX.
