Nora En Pure Discusses Her Favorite Festivals And Nature In An iEDM Exclusive Interview

| September 01, 2017

Magic always seems to be in the air whenever Nora En Pure talks. When she speaks, you listen. There is no way around it.

In an exclusive interview with iEDM, the South African-Swiss DJ and deep house producer recalled her experience when she performed at the Elements NYC Festival earlier this month.

"It was my second time playing at Elements Festival and it was very raw. It's about the music and the passion I have for it. They don't do a lot of production here. It's not really necessary. You kind of have what you need to have. You live off of the crowd," Pure stated.

Playing her hits during the late night portion of the festival, Pure had the honor of sending her fans home extremely happy.

"Closing the stage out was pretty cool. It was great that I could play my sound after all of those other amazing acts," she said.

Putting on incredible performances isn't the only thing Pure knows how to do. She also happens to have a thing for extreme sports. When asked how she got involved with a hobby that is so drastically different, she winked, "I grew up with two older brothers."

Time has been kind to the producer. New opportunities keep coming her way with no slowing down on the horizon. There was one festival in particular that Pure fondly remembered.

Pure stated, "There were so many highlights this year. Back in April, I played at Coachella. It was amazing. Whoever came to my tent was there for the music. The production was amazing. The lights were incredible!"

Another recent highlight saw Nora En Pure tear down the house for hours on end across the pond.

"I did Tomorrowland in Belgium and played the main stage for three hours," she said without a hint of hesitation.

Being a person who has done her fair share of travel, Pure went into detail about her past experiences when jet-setting across the globe.

"I feel different vibes depending where I play. In general, I play a lot in the USA. People here really know the new stuff of mine. People here are very open. People in Europe--sometimes they don't follow along as closely. Over there, people are a little more distant in my experience," she told iEDM. She continued, "Europeans are a bit more reserved in general. Otherwise, I love being in South Africa. Whenever I go over there, it is like a gigantic homecoming. They always celebrate my music because they are proud of what I have accomplished."

During her downtime, after she gets done partying with her hometown people, Pure likes escape the crowd and enjoy her alone time.

"I'm a big nature person. Down there, I always go into the wilderness. There is no noise. You don't even have a cellphone signal and it is amazing. You just hear the animals," she said in all seriousness.

When asked about what kind of animal she loves the most, she loudly laughed, "Of course I have a favorite animal but that's private."

It's not often that the DJ has time to rest. Pure is always moving in search for her next big hit.

"I'm always working on something. I never sleep. I'm getting gray hair though. I'm working on an EP that should come out soon. It will either have two or three tracks on it," she told iEDM.

If the second half of the year is anything like her first portion, Nora En Pure is more than ready to keep the good times rolling straight ahead.

"At the moment, I feel like I found my characteristic sound. I'm always trying to do a little something new though just so people don't expect it to sound like a 'typical' Nora en Pure track," she stated.

Pure then let out a mischievous grin, "Just be open to it. Sometimes I feel people want to hear the same kind of thing, but I will tell them--just be ready! I'm super happy right now so I can't complain. This year has been really good to me."
