Shaky Beats Music Festival 2017 Review

| May 11, 2017

Last year, Shaky Beats Music Festival made an immaculate debut, making it seem impossible to top, but this year, they did just that!

Shaky Beats is a prime example of how unique Atlanta’s EDM scene is. The perfect mix of trappy beats, jazzy tunes, house music and dubby wubs took over Centennial Olympic Park, which is a convenient and beautiful downtown venue with cityscape views that is perfect for this kind of event.

A stacked lineup isn’t all this festival has going for itself. It is by far exemplary in many ways, from production to operations to vendors. The vibes were so absolutely amazing, both the staff and attendees were so kind. It was all around perfect, and I suggest this epic festival to anyone that likes EDM music.

The Performances Exceeded Expectations

So many people have waited for Australian producer Alison Wonderland to finally make her way to Atlanta. Friday, she rocked the crowd with her mix of techno, trap, and futuristic beats. Hopping on top of the DJ stand and dancing, she hyped the crowd. I don’t know how she did it in those platform shoes, but she was flawless.

Bonobo put on a unique, legendary live show in style. Claude Vonstroke brought down the house introducing ATL to those techno vibes. RL Grime trapped out the park, and Griz got groovy as always. The next two days were just as good as the first one.

This was my first time seeing Flosstradamus as a one-man show, and he did an incredible job.

They saved the best for last because The Chainsmokers blew everyone away with their closing performance. My last time catching one of their sets was Voodoo 2016, and they have hands down come so far with their live performances.

The Crowd Was Amazing

Everyone was so stoked to be there and smiles could be seen anywhere you looked. I was complimented by strangers, offered water and drinks, and danced around the festival with friends old and new.

The crowd dressed their festival best the entire time. I saw so many unique designs, hot body suits, and cosmic crop tops. Everyone expressed their colorful souls and wore whatever they pleased. Some went all out with gemstones, bright, makeup, masks, parasols, and head pieces. Others kept it simple and threw on a trippy onesie.

 The Venue Ensured Convenience

Named after three of Atlanta’s busiest roads: Piedmont, Peachtree, and Ponce de Leon, the stages were the perfect distance from each other. Is it a coincidence that these roads make traveling in the city so much more convenient?

Production was superb. The bass was heavy and the light shows were out of this world. Night time was the definition of 'lit,' with trippy graphics, beautiful fireworks, and confetti-filled cheers.

The food was delicious and there was something for everyone, whether you wanted fries filled with cheese and spices, a loaded taco, or even sushi. If you got hot during the day, there were free ice pops full of flavor and if you needed a pick me up, Bearclaw Coffee Co. was there to save the day with some of the highest quality coffee.

 I Can't Wait For Shaky Beats 2018

Over all, Shaky Beats Music Festival was a 10 out of 10. The line up is one of 2017’s best, and with a perfect venue, great production and good vibes. It will be hard for other festivals to top this one for me and I’ll be counting down the days to next year.
