Deep Tropics And Virgin Hotels Join Forces To Bring Sustainable Music Experiences to Nashville

Although it is widely celebrated for the immersive music and art experience it provides, Nashville's Deep Tropics festival goes way above and beyond in a number of other important areas. On August 18 and 19, the vibrant East Coast city will host its premiere house and bass-fueled flagship event, while simultaneously striving to achieve a climate positive weekend for the third consecutive year.

In order to reach this level of sustainability, Deep Tropics has partnered with Virgin Hotels Nashville, recognized for being one of the greenest hotels in the region. Prior to its main finale, this collaboration has already held two lead-in 'Waveclub' parties at the hotel's rooftop, The Pool Club. These pre-festival functions took place on July 1 and July 29, utilized a reusable cup and zero-waste program that embody the eco-friendly initiatives close to the heart of Deep Tropics.

When it comes to the festival itself, all of these efforts are powered by its non-profit organization, Deep Culture Inc. This team of visionaries heavily support “the interconnectedness of environmental care, personal well-being, and community engagement, and seeks to foster a transformative vision that promotes self-discovery, stronger community and environmental connections, and interactive experiences for personal and collective growth.”

Last year, Deep Tropics sustainability results were incredible, diverted the majority of festival waste from landfills, on top of offsetting its carbon footprint via tree-planting initiatives. Not only that, but their zero-waste program hit an impressive mark of 93% of waste diversion for 2022. Synonymous with the previous festival, Deep Tropics 2023 attendees can participate in wellness programs and workshops, along with fun and engaging educational experiences focused on personal growth sprinkled throughout both days.

As a part of this environmental mission, Virgin Hotels is actively measuring how efficient their buildings are by using platforms focused on reducing their energy, water consumption, and carbon footprint. Meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations is a guiding principle behind every decision the brand makes. These ongoing green efforts are further highlighted by Virgin Hotels Nashville’s achievement of LEED Silver certification. By adding Virgin Hotels Nashville to their team, Deep Tropics and Deep Culture are well on their way to making it to net-zero emissions by 2030.
