[LISTEN] Shallou & Night Tales Deliver Disco-House Hit “I Just Wanted To Dance”
As summer hits its peak, Shallou and Night Tales have delivered a collaboration that perfectly captures the season’s energy. Their debut single together, “I Just Wanted To Dance,” out now via top-notch label FADER, is shaping up to be the disco-house anthem of the season.
“I Just Wanted To Dance” is a precursor to Shallou’s forthcoming EP, 24, summer. The project will be a retrospective of the music he made this summer, inspired by the feelings of the season. One of the songs embraces a similar disco-house vibe to “I Just Wanted To Dance,” however, the other two are different. Night Tales, known for their innovative electronic-live sound, and Shallou, a prominent figure in the chill electronic genre, bring a refreshing blend of 70s influences and modern dance elements. The track features a piano-driven bassline, airy vocals, vintage effects, and a simple yet compelling hook designed to get listeners moving.
Night Tales shared their vision behind the track, emphasizing their desire to create a unifying dance song that prioritizes the musical atmosphere and instrumentation over deep lyrics. This collaboration represents a significant shift from Shallou’s usual emotive sound, focusing more on production and energy with minimal vocals. The result is a track that immediately immerses listeners in its uplifting groove.
Both Night Tales and Shallou have made substantial impacts on the electronic music scene. Night Tales, composed of Aaron Bannie and Kamaliza Salamba, have built a reputation with their dynamic live performances and deep house anthems.
Following their debut album Proof under Ultra Records, they have accumulated over 50 million streams across various platforms. Their hit “Only If” continues to gain over 1.5 million streams monthly.
So far this year, Night Tales has headlined major events like Miami’s We Belong Here festival and EDC Mexico’s mainstage, followed by a successful European tour. Their high-energy performances at Spain’s Abroad Fest, London’s Colours, and Paris’s T7 nightclub have solidified their status as a powerhouse duo in the dance music scene.
They also joined BLOND:ISH at Coachella, toured nationwide with Jerro, and have upcoming appearances at Elements festival and Breakaway Nashville. Their nomination for Breakthrough Artist Of The Year at the EDMA’s during Miami Music Week underscores their rising influence.
Shallou, whose real name is Joe Boston, started his career in a New Orleans dorm room before moving to Los Angeles. His serene yet danceable productions and captivating live shows have earned him spots at major festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza.
