[LISTEN] elden Drops New 'POWERTRIP EP' via Killed It! Records
elden is pushing deeper into the contrast between melody and aggression on his new 'POWERTRIP EP', out now via Killed It! Records.
The project marks Killed It!’s first standalone release from an artist outside BARELY ALIVE, giving the emerging label another step beyond its initial compilation-driven rollout.
At the center of the EP is “FIREWALL,” a track that captures elden’s current approach particularly well by moving between emotional passages and heavier brostep-inspired drops without treating those ideas as separate worlds.
According to elden, the song came together somewhat unexpectedly. The main drop began as a rough skeleton, and timing nearly kept the track off the EP entirely. After returning to it late in the process, however, “FIREWALL” ultimately became his favorite track on the project.
“FIREWALL came together pretty unexpectedly,” elden explains. “I had the main idea sitting around as a skeleton and honestly wasn’t even sure it was going to make the EP, but I powered through it toward the end and it ended up becoming my favorite track on the project.”
That last-minute development mirrors the song’s own tension between control and chaos. The verses carry a more melodic and vulnerable quality before giving way to heavier drops, continuing an idea elden also explored on recent single “War Machine.”
The combination has already earned attention from across the bass music scene. Excision supported elden’s music at Bass Canyon, while Levity and Tape B have both provided playout support during their Summer Program Tour.
Additional social support has come from Ray Volpe, Eliminate, Crankdat, Boombox Cartel, Marshmello, BARELY ALIVE, and other tastemakers.
elden will also bring this new material into the live setting with an upcoming performance at Avalon Hollywood as part of BARELY ALIVE’s “RECONNECT” Tour.
With 'POWERTRIP EP', elden continues refining a sound built around contrast, using melodic restraint to make the heavier moments land with even greater impact.
