Ways To Stay Comfortable And Safe In The Festival Heat

| August 11, 2016

It’s no secret to anyone that this summer has been a hot one. But then again, when you spend your days outside dancing for 10 hours, you’re bound to get hot regardless.

Festivals tend to be located in places where the temperatures stay pretty high, even after the sun goes down. While having fun is the top priority at shows, we’ve compiled a list of a few ways to help keep you safe as well. Stay safe and dance harder.

Hydrate:

Making sure you stay hydrated is the most important thing. Dehydration is the most common reason for a visit to the medic tent.

They do have IV bags on standby ready to help you out, but who wants to spend their time lying in the medical tent when you can be out having fun?

To combat the heat and the sun make sure you’re drinking plenty of water. There’s free water booths in addition to water bottles for purchase at almost every stand.

There are backpacks with water pouches built in them for convenience. We also recommend reusable water bottles that you can refill all weekend.

If you seem someone who looks like they need a break, offer them some water and a person to sit down with. Remember to always help each other out.

Nourish:

Dancing burns a ton of calories so while you’re dancing your life away, you’re also exercising. You wouldn’t go to the gym, and then not eat after, and this is the same thing.

Festivals are a marathon not a race, so you have to be properly nourished to continue to have optimum levels of fun. While you’re taking a bathroom break or heading to another stage, pop by one of the food vendors and grab a snack.

Most festivals have pretty amazing food nowadays and the options are pretty endless. Take a mini break and sit in the shade with some friends and enjoy a quick smoothie. Your body will thank you later and you’ll get to enjoy some great company as well.

Pack protein bars, fruit, nuts, and other snacks that will give you the nutrients you need to keep on raging.

Dress Comfortable:

The best part about festivals is getting to wear whatever you want with zero judgement. If you want to dress like a pumpkin not only will you not be judged, but its encouraged. However, when battling the heat, you have to make sure you dress smart as well.

If it’s 100+ degrees wearing a fuzzy animal onesie probably isn’t your best bet, save those for the cold camping festivals. iEDM has plenty of outfits for any style you want to rock. Graphic tanks are an awesome staple to have in your closet ready to throw on when the festival heat becomes too much. You’ll be comfortable and look stylish at the same time.
