10 Colorado Festivals & Gatherings For 2019

As Colorado grows and expands, music lovers have a unique opportunity to experience a vast array of musical events. From reggae and jam to underground indie and concentrated bass music events, iEDM has put together 10 festivals and gathering we think you should check out.

10. Spread the Word, May 17-18

For their seventh year, Spread the Word is taking a new approach on  festival endeavors and spreading their event across eight different stages throughout Cervantes Ballroom & Other Side, Denver Coliseum and Levitt Pavilion. They are bringing Denver an eclectic city festival ranging from electronic to folk with so much in between. If you can't make a camping festival this summer, this is a great way to experience an affordable diverse taste of music and art while still being about to rest your head in your own bed.

9. One Vibration, May 17-19

Colorado has come to be known as the bass capital of the country. If you are immersed in the underground bass culture, you know 100% why. With venues like The Black Box continuously bringing in pioneers of bass and new, fresh underground bass and seemingly obscure artists selling out venues such as Red Rocks and First Bank Center, Colorado has become a hub for bass enthusiasts allover the world. One Vibrations brings together people with a common desire to celebrate the essence of bass and it's unifying superpower.

8. Underground Music Showcase, July 26-28

Although the line up for 2019 has not been dropped yet, The Underground Music Showcase reassures website visitors "Trust us. It's gonna be good."This festival is considered Denvers largest music festival with hundreds of acts playing across multiple stages. If you want to dig into the pockets of underground indie music here in Colorado, you do not want to miss this event. UMS properly displays Denver's unique, thriving music scene.

7. Compound Sound, July 4-6

Okay, I am cheating on this event since it's location is in Wyoming BUT I had to include it as an upcoming event looking to spread Colorado's music influence outside the state. Just about an hour and a half north of Denver a little slice of magic is about to happen. Although the festival has been around for a handful of years, this year is going to put Compound Sound on the map alongside other music & arts camping festivals in Colorado. Grassroots production companies and agencies are coming together to deliver a fresh array of up and coming musical acts from Colorado.

6. Global Dub, May 18

Red Rocks Hosts a plethora of events every year and when massive events like this one come to the legendary venue, they do not disappoint. Celebrate day and night with some of the biggest names in EDM. Bring an empty water bottle and snacks because this one is going to need all the energy to properly throw down. Be prepared to get their early, tailgate with some friends and enjoy your night on the rocks!

5. Arise, August 2-4

Arise is pioneer in transformational festival. This intimate, family run festival creates a holistic platform for taking positive experiences and knowledge back home to your community. With diverse yoga classes, a multitude of workshops and a family friendly environment, Arise encourages healthy practices in celebrating life. Transform your festival experience with Arise.

4. Freestyle Sessions, June 7-9

Bassnectar has always graced this state with a loving presence. The mecca of bass- it's no wonder the bass maven brings three day gatherings to Colorado. With community oriented values and the desire to create societal impact through music, the Bassnectar team preaches giving back and open-heartedness. If anyone has demonstrated the astounding influence of music, it would be the bass head community that is changing the face of what curated events can bring to a city.

This event is sold out! But fortunately for you, the Bassnectar community encourages ticket holders to not scalp tickets and to sell them for near face value. Check out Facebook groups for your face value three night pass!

 

3. Westword Music Showcase, June 29

Westword has long since been a trusted independent news source in Denver. While encouraging and normalizing counterculture, it has been a voice for Denver's unique, open-minded community. Coming back with their 25th year, Westword has an impressive showcase for Denver this year! Located in Denver's Golden Triangle creative district, this showcase will be in the heart of Denver. We are excited to see what they have in store this year!

2. Dirty Bird BBQ, June 8

A few months back the Dirtybird team asked music lovers to vote for their city to be included on the BBQ tour and Denver won the BBQ city vote! House music has always lived in the hearts of electronic enthusiasts but recently it has taken the reigns in cities all across the country. The Fillmore will be hosting the event indoors AND outdoors.

1. Global Dance Festival, July 19-20

Since it's growth, Global Dance Festival has been taking over the Broncos Stadium at Mile High and we have to say- we are not disappointed. With it's multitude of stages and ridiculous line ups. Global Dance Festival has become a destination festival for people all over the country. Come dance with us at this larger than life event.

Celebrating our lives through ritual of dance and gathering with other humans has long been a tradition across all cultures, ideologies and eras. Music is a force that is unlike any other and brings commonality in a room of people who might otherwise never cross paths.

She grew up in Chicago and then received her BA in Studio Art at University of Minnesota- Twin Cities before making her way to Colorado.

Her first festival was Electric Forest which inspired her to pursue a creative life. She began participating with the Bassnectar team and shortly after starting working behind the scenes of a multitude of music and art events.
