After years of relative silence under the Ghastly name, David Crow reemerges with “DOPAMINE MACHINE VOL. 1,” a 30-minute mix that signals a decisive return to the sound that first defined his career.

Known for shaping the modern bass house and electro house landscape, Crow uses this release to reestablish Ghastly with a sharpened identity and a clear sense of direction.

This rollout began with a cinematic teaser that quickly circulated across social platforms. Crow is shown climbing out of a grave beneath a tombstone labeled “Here Lies Ghastly,” a visual that framed the project’s rebirth while acknowledging the time spent away.

It set the tone for what follows in the mix itself, a carefully constructed narrative that blends nostalgia with progression.

“DOPAMINE MACHINE VOL. 1” opens with a striking visual and audio concept. Crow plugs cables into an old box television as glitch effects and ambient textures build tension.

A vintage clip of deadmau5 praising Ghastly flashes across the screen, reinforcing the project’s legacy before transitioning into a barrage of new material.

From there, the mix moves with precision. Over 30 minutes, Ghastly cycles through bass house IDs, edits, and mashups that balance familiarity with experimentation.

Recognizable vocals, including flips of Breach’s “Jack” and Dean Turnley’s “Actin’ Up,” are woven into a broader framework that also touches brostep, speed house, and more aggressive design elements.

The visual component plays a central role. Psychedelic distortions, anime clips, and retro film footage are layered into a TV-style interface, creating a viewing experience that feels as intentional as the music itself.

Each transition reinforces the sense of movement, keeping the pace consistent without losing clarity.

The closing moments shift tone. After a final, uplifting sequence, Crow addresses listeners directly, reflecting on the past year and reframing it as a period of growth rather than setback.

His message lands simply: a reminder that even difficult chapters can lead to new beginnings.

With “DOPAMINE MACHINE VOL. 1,” Ghastly does not rely on nostalgia alone. The mix functions as both a reintroduction and a statement, positioning the project for a renewed run in 2026.
