Top 10 Most Anticipated EDM Acts at Bonnaroo 2019
We are almost a week out from being down on the farm at Bonnaroo 2019. Music, art, entertainment, charity, and even a 5, Bonnaroo has it all. It’s a four-day celebration hosting some of the world’s biggest names in rock, hip-hop, jam bands, pop, and electronica.
With multiple stages and over 100 artists, it’s easy to become overwhelmed with options on which sets to actually catch. Unfortunately, with so much music in such a short time, you’re almost definitely going to miss some shows. Fortunately, we have taken the time to highlight some of the most anticipated EDM artists of the weekend, so you could take a look ahead of time and decide which shows you absolutely have to see.
Take a good long look at this list, and make sure you listen to these artists for yourselves. There is a lot in this list for everyone. We are excited to be experiencing these sets live and in person, in just a couple more days.
Without further ado, here are the Top 10 Most Anticipated EDM Acts at Bonnaroo 2019.
10. Illenium
Grab your crew and get ready to experience the FEELS. Few producers create such emotionally captivating mixes, as Nick Miller (Illenium). It’s not the grimiest or hardest hitting set on stage by any measure, but Illenium’s ability to captivate, enthrall, and propel listeners to heightened emotional experience is celebrated the world over. Check this set out if you’re looking for some emotional connection or the realization that you’re not alone in this world.
9. 12th Planet
For almost 20 years now 12th Planet (John Dadzie) has been pushing the Dubstep scene further and further out into the masses. Once dubbed the “Johnny Appleseed” of dubstep, John’s incredible work ethic and bass-heavy beats have helped grow the scene into what it is today. Don’t miss out on this So-Cal Dub legend.
8. Gramatik
If you like Funk-step, here it is. Gramatik has been producing beats since he was 13 years old and it shows. Just check out his latest album drop with Big Gigantic, Better Believe It Now. Get your dancing shoes, and get to this set.
7. Sunsquabi
Jamtronica is that special place where ravers and heads come together to dance the night away while listening to a mashup of “crunchy jams” and “sick beats.” Enter Sunsquabi. Their soulful funk seamlessly merges beautiful guitar licks with ethereal digital soundscapes. Feeling groovy? Check out Sunsquabi.
6. G Jones
G Jones is a master technician when it comes to beat making. His pedigree in the dub scene is best demonstrated by his collaboration portfolio. G Jones has put out killer tracks with Bassnectar, Eprom, and DJ Shadow. If you haven’t seen G Jones yet, you’re messing up.
5. Liquid Stranger
Fresh off the release of his 30-song album Infinity, in early 2019, Liquid Stranger is bringing his self described “Free Form Bass” to Bonnaroo’s Other Stage on Friday night at 10pm. This set is guaranteed to be all over the spectrum with crazy emotional peaks and valleys that might just move you. You’ve been warned.
4. Odesza
Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight form the electronic powerhouse Odesza. Their whimsical, uplifting flow of synth and drum work has earned them multiple Grammy nominations and sold out shows all over the world. For those just getting into the scene, this could be a very friendly introduction.
3. Space Jesus b2b Eprom b2b Shlump
Put your Space Jordan’s on and get ready to get WEEEIRD. This set headlining set at The Other Stage is bass lover's b2b dream come true: Space Jesus, Eprom, and Shlump. Your ears aren’t going to know what hit them. I don’t know if it’s possible to have a stranger line-up of alien basslines, toxic hip hop, and ground shaking drops. As I said, things are going to get weird.
2. Girl Talk
While America has largely moved on from the Mashup era of the mid-2000s (and very possibly rightly so), we are stoked to see Girl Talk on Bonnaroo’s 2019 lineup. It’s been almost a decade since Girl Talk has been at the top of popular culture, and we’re not sorry for wanting to feel a little nostalgia for what is now the good ol’ days of the mid-2000s.
1. Griz Superjam
What can we say, the G.O.A.T. Griz Superjam is going to be straight off the chain good. There’s gonna be people on that stage with GRIZ who’ve backed up some of the biggest musicians of our time. I’m talking David Bowie and Beyonce. Do you know how good you have to be to back up Beyonce!? This show is going to be killer. Don’t miss this funk period.
