EDC Orlando 2021 Review: A Feast For The Eyes And Ears

This year’s EDC was one for the record books. Celebrating 25 years, EDC boasted a perfect lineup, festival grounds that were a feast for the eyes, and a drone-filled sky. EDC Orlando is always a festival worth attending, but this year held new experiences that made it unique. Huge amusement park rides gave fans a 360° view of EDC Orlando's improved layout.

The Circuit Grounds helmed incredible talents such as Zedd, Excision, and NGHTMRE B2B SVDDEN DEATH. A highlight was DJ Diesel, a.k.a. Shaq, whose energetic set included jumping into the mosh pit to dance with the fans. The Circuit Grounds stage was adorned with gigantic led screens and pulsating lights, best utilized during NGHTMRE and SVDDEN DEATH’s B2B set. Their horror-themed imagery and electrifying lasers elevated their short and manic transitions. 

Surrounded by beautiful goddess statues, The Neon Garden stage hosted a secret B2B2B between Green Velvet, John Summit, and Dom Dolla. This nice surprise was one hell of a way to end the second night of EDCO.

The Corona Electric Beach was a smaller stage reminiscent of a beach rave with sand and hammocks. JSTJR played nostalgic mixes while surrounded by EDC staff in huge fish outfits. A hilarious sight was JSTJR walking around before his set giving away money to fans that answered EDM-related questions for his YouTube channel.

Lined with giant, color changing flowers, Daisy Lane was a bridge that took you to the Stereo Bloom stage. The Stereo Bloom stage looked like a humongous retro radio with multiple side view mirrors sticking out the side of it. The glowing setup lit up housed atmospheric trance sets by Cosmic Gate and Paul Van Dyke. 

EDC’s Kinetic Field is iconic for good reason. Drones lit up the sky at one point, taking the shape of an owl, daisies, and even the EDC logo. I never thought something could ever replace fireworks but here we are. A gigantic owl sat on the Kinetic Field stage, moving its head from side to side. KSHMR trended for having a Squid Game opening that turned the stage bright red and stopped the music when “red light” was spoken. Everyone would pause until they heard “green light” and kept dancing the night away. Armin Van Buuren closed EDC Orlando with a fire, laser, and firework heavy set. He ended the performance with his track “Blah Blah Blah,” but with a hardstyle twist. As always, EDC Orlando is the premier EDM event in central Florida, with nothing but great memories left in its wake.
