[EVENT REVIEW] Carl Cox Casts A Hypnotic Techno-Fueled Spell Over M2 For RESISTANCE's Miami Race Week Takeover
Miami Race Week was an absolute blast this year, packed with awesome shows and globally renowned acts throughout the city. Easily earning its spot as one of the top highlights, Ultra's underground house and techno project RESISTANCE continued its residency at top-tier nightclub M2, right off of South Beach.
RESISTANCE's race week takeover consisted of Carl Cox and friends on Friday, and Mathame and friends on Saturday. We had the pleasure of hitting the Carl Cox show, where veteran DJ-producer hybrid m.O.N.R.O.E. was kicking things off.
Then techno maestros Hidden Empire took the stage to light up the venue with a nonstop set of aggressive basslines and crisp, fast-paced percussion, their debut at M2 one for the books.
Around 1AM, it was time for the king of techno himself to be at the helm. Carl Cox asserted sonic dominance over the crowd, mixing in his original anthems like "Concentrate," with Paul Oakenfold, and widely acclaimed hits such as Chris Lorenzo's "Pump."
What was arguably the most stunning part of the overall extended performance, is how in sync the lasers and visual production was with Carl's driving beats. Vibrant green, purple, red, and other colored lasers shot harmoniously all over the walls of M2 and the dancing ravers.

Equally incredible were the acrobats and professional dancers, moving effortlessly with the music. The way they danced and performed seemed so intricately thought out, yet so smooth and fluid. On top of this, they were decked out in futuristic and eye-popping outfits that aligned nicely with the visuals and lighting during Carl's set.
Carl's seamless blending of track after track made as if we were subconsciously trapped by the surrounding sound. It was impossible to tell where one song ended and the next one began, which is not only the beauty of techno but comes with its pioneer and top DJ across the world.
