[LISTEN] WonkyWilla Brings Fan-Favorite 'Disco Wonk' Concept to Streaming With First Original EP

WonkyWilla, Disco Wonk EP

| July 09, 2026

For years, WonkyWilla’s Disco Wonk concept has existed primarily through live sets, special performances, and a growing collection of SoundCloud flips.

Now, the fan-favorite extension of his project enters its next phase with the 'Disco Wonk EP,' a four-track collection that marks the first entirely original body of music from the series to reach streaming platforms.

The project expands on a sound that has steadily developed into one of the most recognizable corners of the WonkyWilla universe. Pulling from disco, funk, house, indie dance, and bass music, the EP moves between nostalgic dancefloor influences and unconventional low-end production without settling comfortably into a single genre.

“Disco Mirage” opens the project alongside members of the Strawberry Disco Circus, incorporating live instrumentation into a colorful production shaped by sitar strings, orchestral xylophone, and an eclectic mix of influences.

The result introduces the EP through a cinematic lens before “Studio 69” shifts toward heavier territory. Already familiar to fans through WonkyWilla’s festival and club sets, the track pairs crisp percussion and funk-driven grooves with bass-heavy progressions.

“Funk Room” takes the project into a darker space through gritty low-end textures and a more hypnotic atmosphere.

The Floozies then join WonkyWilla for closing track “Lovin’ You,” which leans furthest into the project’s disco and house influences through a vintage-inspired arrangement and prominent vocal topline.

“The ‘Disco Wonk EP’ was inspired by my love for funky disco music and weird, bass-heavy sound design,” WonkyWilla explains. “I wanted to create something that feels nostalgic and familiar while still pushing the boundaries of modern electronic music.”

That philosophy has become central to the larger Disco Wonk identity. Rather than treating disco influences as nostalgic decoration, WonkyWilla reshapes them through modern bass production, live instrumentation, and the playful experimentation that has defined his broader catalog.

The release arrives shortly after the announcement of WonkyWilla’s 30-plus-date “Wonking On Sunshine” Tour, his largest headline run to date.

With a dedicated Disco Wonk mixtape also planned featuring flips of music from ABBA, Bee Gees, Daft Punk, and Thundercat, the EP represents more than a standalone release.

It establishes the foundation for a concept that has spent years developing in front of live audiences and is now becoming a fully realized world of its own.
