Mysteryland USA Officially Cancelled

| April 17, 2017

Rumors have been swirling for awhile, and while we all didn’t want to believe it, Mysteryland confirmed it. Following in the footsteps of EDC New York and Tomorroworld 2016 and 2017, Mysteryland USA 2017 has been canceled for this year.

ID&T, the company that owns Mysteryland (and Tomorroworld for that matter) has not yet stated a specific reason for the cancellation. The Mysteryland website has been stagnant since the end of March, but they finally posted a statement, which you can read here.

The website has been wiped clean, with only an apology from festival organizers on a simple white screen. The official statement from Mysteryland organizers merely reads “due to unforeseen circumstances, Mysteryland USA will no longer take place in 2017.”

Rumors have been abound about why the festival was canceled. Some speculate that Mysteryland was unable to meet the required ticket sales, others say that fans were disappointed with a lineup that didn’t cater to fans’ tastes. While Mysteryland has promised to refund tickets, money is a paltry compensation for the demise of a fan-favorite festival.

Mysteryland has been one of the biggest East Coast music festivals and fans from all over the country are saddened by the news. While we hope that Mysteryland will make a return (along with EDC New York, Tomorroworld, Swedish House Mafia, and Daft Punk), all we can do now is enjoy the festivals that are still lined up for the duration of the festival season.

The next biggest festival in New York will be Electric Zoo on Labor Day weekend (or Governor’s Ball for a less EDM-centric lineup). If you’re looking for the next biggest camping festival, Electric Forest will be shaking up Michigan for two weekends at the end of June. To all the nomads, ravers, campers and Mysteryland fans out there, we offer our condolences as well as hopes for a 2018 return!
