How to Measure Yourself for a Rave Outfit

Use a soft tape measure and keep it snug but not tight. Wear the bra you plan to wear on the day, because padding changes your chest number.

• Chest: around the fullest part of your bust, with the tape level across your back.
• Waist: around the spot where you want your leggings or shorts to sit.
• Hips: around the widest part of your hips and seat.

Tops on our charts are measured laid flat, from one side seam to the other. So double the chart number to get the top's full chest, then compare it with your own chest measurement.

Leggings and shorts work differently, because their charts already list the full waist. They don't list the hips, so go one size up if your hips are much fuller than your waist.

Our size charts page shows a drawing of where each number is taken. If you usually wear 1X, 2X or 3X, go by inches, since our labels say XL, 2XL and 3XL.

Cotton soaks up sweat, which can lead to friction and chafing, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. None of our clothing is cotton, because every piece is printed on polyester.

For your thighs, powder or petroleum jelly cuts down the rubbing. Under a hoodie dress, leggings keep your thighs from touching skin to skin.

Before you head in, put moleskin or a soft bandage on spots that tend to rub. If your skin turns sore or red, stop and give it a rest.

How to Dress for Daytime Heat and Cold Nights
