Travel To Canada For These 10 Summer Music Festivals Of 2020

We are nearing prime festival season and this means serious business. For those of you dying to pack your bags for a momentary rave escape, look no further than Canada and check out these amazing music festivals that are just a step away. 

Known for it's beautiful landscapes and summertime weather, we are counting down for top tiered events like Shambhala, Veld and more! 

 

 

10. Chasing Summer Music Festival

The largest electronic music festival in Western Canada, Chasing Summer takes place in Calgary, Alberta over two days August 3-4. This year sees headliners The Chainsmokers, Above & Beyond, Steve Aoki and Alesso with additional acts like Spencer Brown, K?D, Two Friends and more slated to perform. 

 

 

9. North By Northeast (NXNE) 

 

 

North By Northeast, aka NXNE was created to mimic Texas's South By Southwest SXSW except with a Canadian twist. This festival is more than an outdoor festival experience, it includes local venues, a film festival portion and more. This year's line up isn't announced yet, but this is their 25th year so we can expect a party. 

 

 

8. Shambhala Music Festival

One of the longest-running festivals in Canada, Shambhala began in 1998 and takes place over 4 days and 3 nights at Salmo River Ranch, British Columbia. Offering a festival experience mixed with music, nature and arts, Shambhala has six uniquely curated stages and a variety of workshops and attractions. The 2019 lineup features headliners like BTSM, Kaskade, Nero, Silk City and plenty of underground artists and takes place August 9-12. 

 

 

7. VELD Music Festival

For EDM and hip-hop fans alike, VELD packs a stacked lineup into just two days of festival activity. Taking place at Downsview Park in Toronto, the all-ages festival has consistently attracted big headlining acts from deadmau5 to Martin Garrix, A$AP Rocky and Migos since its inception in 2012. 2019 VELD will be held August 3-4 and features headlining acts Cardi B, Kygo, Skrillex and Tiësto. Other notable artists include Kodak Black, Joyryde, Jaden Smith and Ski Mask the Slump God. 

 

 

6. îleSoniq 

Launched in 2014, îleSoniq is Montréal's biggest electronic music festival and has grown to be one of the most anticipated events in the area due to its unique layout, outdoor location and on-site activities. The Phase 1 lineup already boasts heavy diversity from giants Above & Beyond, Kaskade, Excision to rising bass producers Peekaboo and Space Laces and rap talent like Sheck Wes and Lil Pump. îleSoniq will take place August 9-10 at Parc Jean-Drapeau. 

 

 

5. Escapade Music Festival

Debuting in 2010, the Ottawa-based festival Escapade takes place June 22-23 and has quickly grown to host some of the biggest names in the industry. With great diversity spread across the main stage, bass stage, house stage as well as the dubstep and trance stage curated by Deadbeatz and Ferry Corsten respectively, 2019 Escapade looks to be promising. 

 

 

4. Ever After Music Festival

Camping festival Ever After is every bass heads dream, with four days of head-banging in stock. The fifth annual Ever After takes place June 7-9 in Kitchener, Ontario and features not only a killer headlining schedule with a special act Kill the Snails (Kill the Noise b2b Snails), but also a heavy-duty b2b lineup on Sunday. Ever After promises an all-encompassing audiovisual experience for attendees that's guaranteed to be better than ever. 

 

 

3. Digital Dreams Music Festival

Another Toronto-based EDM festival, Digital Dreams takes place in Downtown Toronto on the shore of Lake Ontario over two days. Sponsored by Budlight, this year's event will occur on June 29-30 at RBC Echo Beach. The 19+ festival announced its Phase 1 lineup, featuring headliners Zedd and Rezz. Other highlights include 1788-L, Anna Lunoe, Claptone, Duke Dumont and Oliver Heldens. 

 

 

2. FVDED in the Park

The fifth annual FVDED in the Park takes place this year in Holland Park, Surrey and features its biggest lineup yet, with a tasteful mix of hip-hop and electronic. Attendees will get to see performances by Khalid, Zedd, Tory Lanez, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, RL Grime, Green Velvet, Louis the Child and more. Don't miss your chance to get "FVDED" this July 5-6. 

 

 

1. Osheaga Music and Arts Festival

The three-day indie music festival has been held since 2006 in Montréal and will take place August 2-4 this year with its most diverse lineup yet. Electronic fans will delight in seeing acts like Flume, The Chemical Brothers, Rüfüs du Sol, BTSM, Griz and FKJ while getting to experience Osheaga's massive indie offering as well.
