DJ and producer longstoryshort is making waves with his latest project, IN MY MIND EP, a multifaceted project that captures his evolving sound and artistic growth.
Released under Insomniac’s NIGHTMODE label, this EP demonstrates his knack for blending bass-heavy intensity with reflective, melodic tones, offering listeners an immersive journey through contrasting musical themes.
The IN MY MIND EP brings together longstoryshort’s diverse influences, featuring tracks that span bass house, UK garage, and melodic electronica. Each song on the EP is crafted to shift the mood, suitable for everything from introspective listening to energetic club nights.
The EP begins with the cinematic "INTRO (DARK MODE)," setting a haunting tone that leads into the dynamic title track, “IN MY MIND,” which uses a layered buildup to launch into an exhilarating bass house drop, pushing the energy to new heights.
Adding further depth, IN MY MIND includes “IJUSTWANNA,” a collaboration with SPORTMODE that blends infectious vocals, UKG, drum & bass, and sirens into an adrenaline-fueled mix.
The EP’s structure is intentional, as longstoryshort introduces “interlude (light mode)” to bridge the two halves of the project.
The second part leans into softer, more reflective vibes with tracks like “take the fall (don't let it stop you)” and “part of me,” the EP’s closing piece that pairs dreamy production with sentimental lyrics.
longstoryshort’s intention behind IN MY MIND EP is clear: he seeks to explore the dualities of light and dark, intensity and reflection. He explains, “‘IN MY MIND EP' is a journey through the dual sides of my music and personal experiences. ‘Dark Mode’ [first half] brings out that raw, heavy-energy, side of me that leans into harder sounds and unfiltered intensity, while ‘Light Mode’ [second half] explores a softer, emotional side, giving space to reflect and feel. Together, they offer a full view into my world, and I hope listeners connect with these tracks as a soundtrack to their own highs, lows, and everything in between.”
