The world's top international music festival, The BPM Festival graces Tamarindo, Costa Rica in a few days this January 25-29th, 2023! This year's BPM features some of the hottest names in electronic music, specifically in house and techno while offering a spotlight to up-and-coming performers the rest of the world has yet to sublimely encounter. Giolì & Assia
Giolì & Assia, a young Italian duo of producers, multi-instrumentalists, singers, songwriters, record label owners, and DJs, produce their own fusion of music music blending various styles of techno, house, indie, and pop. Giolì plays the piano, cello, drums, guitar, and handpan, and Assia plays the guitar behind lead vocal duties. Initially beginning their relationship as manager and artist, they developed into a production and songwriting duo in 2016. During that year, they founded their own record label imprint, Diesis Records, and released two albums in 2017. Since then, the duo sold-out their first U.S. tour months, collaborated with luxury brands, and continued to innovate their discography. You can find the duo performing on Day 4!
Loco Dice
Loco Dice, a pioneer of his sound and releasing tastemaking albums and EPs belonging in the world of house, techno, and hip-hop. Establishing his record label, Desolat, and the newly minted En Couleur which experiments a wide range of electronic sound, he also conducts Serán Bendecidos party series, which is built around the concept of unity, community and freedom. Thinking and creating outside of the box, he has performed sold-out world tours, designed catwalk music for international fashion labels, his own merchandise lines and collaborations with major International brands, while holding era-defining residencies at some of the world's most iconic clubs. In addition, Loco Dice produces fusions of hip hop and electronic music with his FKD side-project. Find the "Out Of Reach" producer performing on Day 1!
HUGEL
Instigator of the Latin House movement with his hit "Morenita". HUGEL, "Morenita" producer, multi gold and platinum selling artist with over 900 million streams, and numerous releases ranking #1 on Beatport, is a household name in clubs around the world. Growing up in Marseille, France and listening to funk, disco, and soul, he discovered the beauty of DJing and vinyls at 16 years old. With role models like Carl Cox, Daft Punk, and David Guetta, his production is also inspired by Ibiza and Latin culture. Performing at EDC Vegas, Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza, you can also find him performing at BPM Festival on Day 2!
Carl Craig
Detroit techno producer, Carl Craig incorporates influences from soul, jazz, new wave, industrial, and Krautrock, sublime ambient techno, and breakbeat tracks which constituted drum'n'bass, house epics, modular synth experiments, and the list goes on. Distributing seminal techno singles like 1994's "Throw", 1995's "The Climax", and classic albums like 1995's Landcruising, he expanded into classical music with 2008's ReComposed. Craig also operates Planet E Communictions, a label which fosters the careers of several other Detroit-based talents and artists from every corner of the world. Look for him on Day 3 if you're on the hunt for ambient sounds!
Vintage Culture
Lukas Ruiz, better known as Vintage Culture, is an artist who lives and breathes the culture of dance music. With more than 1.5B streams online, 8M across his social media platforms, Vintage Culture currently ranks at #11 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs of 2022. Vintage Culture was nominated as one of the most influential “30 Under 30” industry leaders by Forbes, collaborated with Tiësto, David Guetta, Meduza, Robin Schulz, and Jorja Smith, as well as earning Platinum on multiple releases while reveling in the glory of placing on the Billboard Hot Dance and Spotify Dance Charts. His debut single at Defected Records, "It Is What It Is.", ranked in the top 10 on Beatport. Prioritizing his creative pursuits such as fashion, owner of Só Track Boa, an international Festival and Fashion Brand. You can find Vintage Culture performing on Day 1!
William Djoko
William Djoko’s, a man with pure charisma comprises his DJ Sets in "roove-laden house and rugged, motor-city techno (sprinkled with his famed frisky footwork of course)". Rush Hour, Voyage Direct and Tuskegee record labels have experienced his hypnotizing nature in "OMG" and Desolat with "Out of Reach" featuring Loco Dice. In a similar nature to "Out Of Reach", his iconic sound can also be heard on William’s, "Whiplash", a funk-inflected heater that debuted as the first record on William’s brand new imprint DJOKO Records. Experience his astonishing performance on Day 1!
DJ Minx
DJ Minx is often referred to as the First Lady of Wax and a pillar of Detroit's club scene. Deep and minimal to boisterous and funky performances, she represents house and techno to perfection. Djing since the early 1990's, she pioneered the Women on Wax collective and label. Releasing tracks in the early 2000s, DJ Minx's 2003 minimal house track "A Walk in the Park" gained her widespread recognition. However, her roots in DJing began when a friend took her to see Derrick May at a club called the Music Institute in 1989. In 2015, Mixmag named her as one of the 20 women who shaped the history of dance music while Time Out New York included her in a list of the Top Ten house DJs of all time in 2016. Earning recognition for her impact for women and electronic music altogether, Minx continued playing at clubs and festivals around the world and was asked to curate her own stage at the 2022 edition of Movement. WHEATS
WHEATS is an emerging name in the electronic music scene especially in the United Kingdom. WHEATS releases grooves on Hottrax, Kaluki, Circus & Solid Grooves to name a few. WHEATS has also gained the support from other performers such as Jamie Jones, Kerri Chandler, Michael Bibi and Marco Carola. Jumping into the industry head first, Kerri Chandler listened to his demos and signed him to his label immediately. This year's BPM will not be his first appearance and will be retuning on Day 2!
Audiofly
Audiofly, a duo formed by Anthony Middleton and Luca Saporito with 13 years and counting in the making of their discography involving melancholic sounds. Establishing successful labels like Supernature, Maison D’Etre and the Flying Circus brand, Audiofly is a duo you don't want to miss at this year's BPM. Focused on the notions of freedom and love, you can watch them come alive on Day!
Hernán Cattáneo
Hernán Cattáneo, Argentina's most world-renowned DJ, grew up listening to European synth pop acts of the 1980s such as Depeche Mode and New Order. Becoming recognized on a global level for performances at superclubs established a platform for progressive house producers with his label/digital outlet, Sudbeat. In 1996 and 1997, he was awarded DJ of the Year honors locally. Additionally, Cattáneo was awarded a Cream residency in Liverpool and Ibiza. It is a must to see this world-class act come alive on Day 2!
