10 Highlights From Escape Psycho Circus
Escape Psycho Circus is Insomniac's massive Halloween Festival. This is where DJ sets, haunted asylums, spooky art installations, halloween costumes, and live performers come together for two days out of the year for an outrageous Halloween weekend!
My favorite part of this spooky event are the epic DJ sets on the lineup. Insomniac presented EDM sub genre brands such as Bassrush, Basscon, Factory 93 and more.
Here are 10 highlights from Escape Psycho Circus.
10. Wasted Penguinz B2B Crisis Era Set @ The Chopping Block
Not only was the crowd wild on the dance floor, but the DJs were insane on stage. This absolutely crazy B2B2B2B was the most hyped hardstyle and hard psy set of the year. Original hardstyle unreleased edits from Wasted Penguinz included tracks by Porter Robinson, The Chainsmokers, Travis Scott and more! This was definitely a set you did not want to miss. If you love hardstyle, make sure to catch Wasted Penguinz at your next Basscon event!
9. Green Velvet presents LaLaland Set @ Cannibal’s Tea Party
He definitely hit us with those laser beams! Day two closing set was groovy at the Factory 93 stage. Those techno heads got what they wanted with an amazing show performed by Green Velvet. Green Velvet brought out special guest star, Claude VonStroke. This was a grand appearance for fans and an amazing end with the DJs ending the show with a B2B, also known as their duo project Get Real.
8. Insomniac Play
Couldn’t make it to the festival? You could've gotten the chance to play with your favorite DJ online! Performers such as Yellow Claw, Kayzo, Born Dirty, GTA, Saymyname, and more could have been your teammates or opponents online. Insomniac launched a demo of the first ever Play Festival. DJs were live on Twitch at the festival before and after their sets to game with you gamers. So if you missed the festival, you may had got the opportunity to team up with your favorite DJ on your favorite game!
7. Kayzo Set @ The Slaughterhouse
We sure were welcomed to the dog house with Kayzo's set at the Slaughterhouse! The rock head and DJ himself played new tracks in collaboration with Silverstein, Blessthefall, and Underoath. Kayzo turned the Slaughterhouse into a the "Doghouse" with his diverse track list of dirty dubstep, hardstyle, hip hop, and rock. Mid set, the artist brought out special guest, Underoath. The band performed their new collaboration "Wasted" with Kayzo live.
6. Diplo Set @ The Slaughterhouse
The one and only Diplo dropping banger after banger at the Slaughterhouse day two closing set. Thomas Wesley Pentz doesn’t disappoint to turn up the heat anytime, anywhere. With so many side projects including as Major Lazer, Silk City, LSD, and Diplo himself; a man of many hats did not hesitate to drop tracks from each project. He also included tracks from past side project, Jack U, a duo that ended in 2015. Diplo’s taste did not stop there, songs from Cardi B, Drake, and GTA made the track list to this fun, exciting set. If you’re in Las Vegas next year, make sure to catch Diplo!
5. Tchami B2B Malaa Set @ Ghoul’s Graveyard
This was one of the most anticipated sets at the festival and "pardon my French," one hell of a vibe! Tchami definitely baptized fans with his deep groove house while Malaa stole our hearts with dropping both new and original tracks. From throwbacks like “Notorious” to more recent tracks like “Prophecy,” a collaboration from both DJ/Producers, this legendary B2B turned dance floor into heaven. House heads definitely lost their minds here!
4. GTA Set @ Ghoul’s Graveyard
This tag team never fails at throwing the most outrageous sets every performance! From dropping hot tracks like “Mo Bamba” by Sheck Wes to classics like “Boy Oh Boy,” a collab with Diplo, their sets guarantee a "Good Time Ahead." The crowd went nuts when the duo dropped tracks from their recent Ep “La Nueva Clasica.” GTA brought out vocalist, Jenn Morel, as their special guest to perform their new hit single “Buscando”.
3. Medusa Madness Art Installation
This masterpiece from Burning Man did not only put on a lit show, but every hour it kept festival goers warm and cozy with its spit fire action. This slithery Medusa shaped installation shot rhythmic fire and was a form of entertainment at the festival. Roaming around Medusa Madness will light up your night.
2. Fortune Teller
Take a look into the future with wisdom from the fortune teller. Escape hosted its own fortune teller booth and the results were miraculous. The fortune teller read your future through cards and dissected its meaning for each. Have fun finding yourself at Escape Psycho Circus
1. The Asylum
Just in time for Halloween, the Asylum was up and running and scarier than ever. The Asylum consisted of real props from movie sets and numerous carnival performers which made this maze so enticing. Entering the Asylum, you never know who was coming after you. Guards, nurses, and clowns suck you to realms hell. This grand style hotel from 1800s created an antique atmosphere for this maze. The nurse led ravers inside and wrapped them in a straitjacket for “safety.” They were then taken away without any idea where they were headed to. It was a madness, only to find Mad Hatter waiting at the end of the tunnel. One’s worst nightmare was another’s fun at Escape Psycho Circus.
